EBC brakes = more dust & noise
What gives? I spent $90 on EBC pads because they are suppose to be better. Shorter stopping, no dust, no noise. I've had them on for a week and they're only battin' .333. Yes they stop a little bit better, but they squeel and my front wheels are black from brake dust. I could have spent half that much money and had the same or maybe even better results.
I think i read somewhere....in the latest peterson's maybe. Anyway, the EBC pads seem to have a long break in period, like 1,000 to 1500 miles and during the break in period they will squeal until they are fully seated. It also seems i remember reading that you have to be easy on them during break in.
Now i'm not positive but it seems that's what i remember reading.
Good luck.

I can't see how any pads could be better than the stockers. Except maybe in price. I think I paid $107. for the fronts.
My fronts went 95,000 miles with no squeaking, no fading and no rumble or warping. The disks looked fine. I tow in the mountains and have had them smoking! Now at 105,000 the rears still have a lot of material left.
Why go with anything else? Best brakes I've had on any vehicle.

I've use the EBC pads on other vehicles and been very satisfied with them. The break-in coating DOES make more dirt at first but once that stuff is done my rims are always clean, no brake dust. I looked at it like the absence of the dirt told me when the pads were broke in.
As for thier performance after break-in, I found that they were super in performance, faster stopping AND less fade. When we have flash floods here in NM, we end up doing a lot of driving through standing water. Stock brakes don't do a real good job after being saturated with water, etc and it takes more pedal to stop. The EBC's are not affected by driving in water, good brakes in water situations. On my cars I used to have to turn my rotors when doing brake jobs, now just change the EBC pads AND have had longer, much longer intervals between pad changes. Here in NM we all have higher milerage vehicles because of the distances between things. My pads are lasting much longer than the stockers did.
I plan to put them on my truck when the stock pads wear out, actually I may put them on before that much wear as it will lengthen the life of my other brake parts which are much more expensive to repair/replace.

I used to run EBC pads in all my cars and trucks. I have since changed. What I notice with EBC pads is that they start out great but quickly fade in stopping an performance power. Yes they are still better than ANY stock pad out there since they are a progressive pad vs a linear pad(stock) and have a higher friction coefficent. My new flavor of choice are Hawk performance brake pads. They have since replaced all my EBC's and for the beginning of June they will be available for our 3rd gens in 4 different flavors. These pads are also less noisy than the EBC which drive me crazy at times and are not as dusty.

i went with the EBC Yellow Stuff Diesel brake pads and i am very dissapointed with them, i have had them on my truck now for 3000 miles and they already need to be changed, the material is way to soft. Also they are putting out way to much brake dust, i cannot go three days without my chrome wheels looking like Black chrome, also the EBC pads make a ridiculous amount of noise, i am not happy having paid $110 bucks just for them to be this much trouble. i am thinking about giving the Hawk pads a shot,.
Just an update on the pads.
I lost track of how many miles I have on them, but probably around 1200 miles or so.
No more noise. Very minimal dust. Stopping power actually seems the same as stock pads.
I guess I'm just happy they quit making noise and a mess.
