Cool Dynatracs, Trussed Axle, Locker, and KMC's Installed!

Well everyone, its been a little bit since I posted but heres an update! Here was my solution to the bent axle housing, I know I may have went a little overboard but everything was apart so why not right?

First, Jason Hughes from HRC trussed a new axle for me, his work is amazing! I am very impressed with his work! He even drove 3 hours (one way) to deliver it! I dont think I will be bending this one any time soon LOL!

Next came the Dynatrac Free Spin Hubs, not cheap but I think they are well worth it! I have already seen a 2 mpg increase in fuel economy on the truck, granted I have been driving it a little easier lately but its been all city. I was a little worried at first about how far they would stick out, but with my aftermarket wheels they come just past the lip of the rim. However, they do not pass the edge of the sidewall (not even close in fact) so I am happy with how that came out.

Since I mentioned the wheels, I bought new wheels mainly because I just get bored with stuff quickly (expensive I know!) I got the KMC Diesels in 18x9 with the trim rings. I think these new wheels really make the truck, I have gotten a ridiculous amount of compliments for them.

Also, while the axle was apart I put an electric locker in the differential. Its the same one that Dodge puts in the PowerWagon, it drops right in with no modifications with the exception of the little hole in the diff cover for the 2 wires. I havent tested it yet but I think it will be pretty challenging to get stuck now!

I dont have any pictures of the new DT Pro control arms installed but I will soon. They are mounted on the truck now and work much better! I was having an issue with the track bar bracket hitting the diff on compression because the DT arms I had were 1" longer. They built me a new set that are 1/2" longer and they work well now.

Now for the obvious part, the powder coating...pictures dont do it justice! They look absolutely amazing, they managed to get a close match to the factory paint which is candy red. Its a 3 stage coating so it will be really durable! I got the entire axle housing, Dynatrac hubs, trim rings, control arms, coils, and track bar. They gave me a heck of a deal and I cant recommend them enough!

Now for the bad part.......the money that went to this was my twins and fuel system fund so that is going to be pushed back a few months.

Oh well, the important part is that it WILL happen lol! I hope you guys like the truck, and it may be pretty but I still wheel it!

wow thats a lot of good mods. I thought the locker required some mods to the housing or you bought a new PW housing right? Anyway you must of spent around 10K.

Dynatrack makes a shorter version of the hub these days, Im thinking thats what you have.

The housing is just a typical 9.25 AAM, the locker will fit any of the AAM fronts. So the PW locker drops right in to any of our AAM equipped trucks.

On the Dynatrac Hubs, they only make the short ones for the Dana 60 front ends not the AAM. So these are the standard length hubs.

Did I get to meet you Halibrand? I met so many people and Im bad with names but ya man it was a ton of fun! That Duramax got his *** on a silver platter! LOL, but ya it was a LOT of money, I even got hooked up on a lot of stuff and still ended up being around $6500-$7000.

I did not install the hubs, but I heard it wasnt that bad of a job. Of course the hardest part would be taking your old hubs off.

looks good. I suppose there isn't anyway to truss the top of the axle instead of the bottom ya know where it would be less suceptible to drag on stuff?

The rear axle will not bend..... Trussing the top would severely hurt travel.....

Aaron glad you got it fixed. It looked like you had a IFS up front w/ that bent axle. LOL........

I also had Jason truss my axle a couple of weeks ago.
