dumb question about tires and gear ratios

hey hows it going. im looking at buying a truck off ebay and its an 04 cummins 3500 srw quad cab short bed with 4:10 gears in the rear end. the truck has 35 inch tires on it and the guy claims that with this set up its just like having 3:73s in the rear end. does anybody know how accurate this is or is the guy just full of it. als oif there is anybody out there with near this setup what kind of gas mileage are you seeing. thanks for the input

4:10s with 35s are comparable to stock size tires with 3:73s rpm wise at any given speed.

yep.

i run 35's on 3.73's which is comparable to 3.42 on stock tires. love it. with 15k lbs in tow no problems and direct is good to 65 mph. 4.10s are a little steep even with 35's imho but not a deal breaker.

You`ll still be spending a bunch on diesel ,as it`s still more than gasoline by 60-75 cents a gallon...especially if you`re driving 100 miles everyday....unless you`re one of the ones getting 22-24+ mpg.

I've got 3.73's with 35's and a 48RE - If I had ordered the truck versus buying it off the lot, I'd have chosen the 4:10's. I pull 10k on a lot of 7% hills and would think the 4:10's would be a better fit.
