Question dually tires ?s

I have an 06 1 ton. I have been wanting to put a slightly bigger tire on it ever since I bought it in 08. I have been looking and Hankook makes their mud tire in a 255/75/17(just about 1/2" taller and 3/4" wider) and I have read the thread on the bfg 255/80/17(1.25" taller and 3/4" wider). I have heard many people talk about putting a 265/75/17 on a dually, but have a lot of different answers regarding rubbing. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge about a Hankook, I know the bfg has a solid name. I have also read that the bfg at ko has been known to make a little front end wobble, will the km2 be the same? Will running a larger tire cause my front end to need more maint. than a stock size? Will I notice any mpg diff. or any power loss? Just wondering.

I can't exactly answer your question but I switched to 265/70/17 which are wider but the same height. That way just about any tire is available in that size and most e rated. They fit without any spacers. I run the cooper ATR's because of the warranty's 45k. I have had the last 4 sets put on for 45 each because i was getting about 15k out of them. I wish I would have known the warranty starts over again about 150k ago.

Are you trying to avoid running a spacer? I've got 35/12.5R17's on my '04 with 2" Arrowcraft spacers.

I'm not sure if the front end on your '06 is the same as my '04, but my steering box was already leaking a bit when I put these on. When it got worse I replaced it with a Red Head gear and added a BD steering box stabilizer. Everything has been great since and the big tires run beautifully.

I am trying to stay away from a spacer( if I can keep from it). I am trying to keep the tires under the dually fender as much as possible w/o adding a fender flare, but I would love a little wider tire for the added width under the 5.9. , but then again Mikey T your truck looks good w/ the 35s

I just got new tires from a shop that pushes Hankook really hard. I wanted the AS, all season, but they were on backorder and they talked me into ATMs against my better judgement. My wornout Mastercrafts still drove like it was on rails and the ATMs made my truck the scariest thing I ever drove. It was so squirmy any little wind would blow the truck around when I'd accelerate hard, I didn't know which way it was going to go. It was a lot squirrelier than a vehicle with a mixture of radials and bias tires. Craig

265/70's are about even with the dually fender.

I have a buddy that has a 04 or 05 1 ton w/ 285/75/17 and his tires are just rubbing w/ a welding bed and a welder. I would get the 265/70 ,but I would like to make sure they would not rub when I pull my gooseneck since everybody will have to order them in around here. I agree Brian, the 265/70 would be easier to replace out on the road instead of the 255/75
