Dual disk vs. Single

What are the advantages and disadvantages of having a dual or single disk clutch? Why are some clutches not for street use? What exactly does pedal effort mean? THANKS GUYS

This breaks down certain clutches. Tells what each is reccomended for, pedal effort, and and shifting. Hope this clears up some things.

The single disk is less expensive and causes less tranny wear because it has a sprung hub and similar to stock pedal effort for advantages. Disadvantages are the high HP ones act more like an on/off switch (very grabby).

the dual disk is capable of holding more power and is supposed to feel more like stock on engagement (mild ones) The disadvantages are cost and causes more wear to the tranny because of unsprung hubs on the disks.

Effort is how hard you have to push on the clutch to disengage it. There are DD clutches that have increased pedal effort to help it hold the power. They will give you a workout pushing the clutch in a Daily driver especially in traffic.
The full on Sled-pulling clutches are are not really streetable at all, one that I know of WILL NOT disengage over 2G. rpms
