DRONE is GONE!!!

I have had enough! Could not take it anymore.!

After reading through every thread on this site about getting rid of the drone, there were just too many variables and combos to know which one would really work. Sooooooooooooooo, I just said the heck with it and put the Cat and factory muffler back on.

I can actually drive down the road pulling the trailer and hear myself think!! I forgot how nice it was.

The wife said that I will end up taking it back off. I dont know about that, but it sure is nice right now.

Glad to hear you've gained back some sanity. Now throw in a roll of duct tape for the kids.

I completly understand! My muffler was off till the first long trip towing. Now I have a straight through and its about to get upgraded to something else quieter. I don't mind noise on short trips, but after a few hours.

When I first bought my truck I pulled the cat and stock muffler and had a straight flow muffler put on, let's say that it only lasted for about 6 months. I'm now glad that I have the donaldson on, I can actually carry on a conversation on a long drive or when pulling the boat.

Paul Fox @ Defiant Products sells a splice-in Shuttleworth HD Diesel muffler for cheap. That's all I'm running for much greater flow and no drone. My buddy's got the Magnaflow 5" turboback system that requires us to use sign language in order to converse while driving. We've got emissions coming next year so all you guys w/stock systems will be able to clean up selling them to us.

Much more sophisticated software will be coming in the future. 98.5+. Somebody posted the written information on one of these sites. Hopefully no decibel test as my Shuttleworth is a bit louder than stock(everything is) I don't know if the AFE Bladerunner's gonna have to come off or what. Sucks.

i have a factory exhaust on my 04.5.

You are saying that i can lower my EGT's and keep a quiet exhaust by just removing the cat and keeping the muffler?

i like it quiet and i enjoy listening to my whistler intake.

He'll need to read the actual law it states below 8,501 gvw and over 14 k gvw ..........but the GVW's that are effected are key to determining who it will impact. so for now we dodge a narrow bullet. Devils in the details ehh

Just put some sound deadener in the truck. I lined my whole cab, top, bottom, back of the cab and the doors, and its actually quieter with my 5" straight pipe(inside with the windows up) than it was stock.
Itll drone a tad pulling a grade, but nowhere near as bad as the resonance was before adding the deadener.

I have stacks right now you want to talk about drone!!! I have been thinking about putting exhaust back under the truck. I can't keep the head liner and back window from shakeing, well when the truck is off I guess.

i bought mine at mufflerandperformance.com
under 200.00 and no drone
it is really small compared to the stock one, looks like one for a v8 hot rod, stainless steel, about 18" long and about 9" in dia.
i am really happy with it, when u kick down on the skinny pedal it sounds like a 18 wheeler, but not too loud...
