Drive train upgrade levels?

I wanted to know at what hp level would it be mandatory to up grade the tranny? What level will stock not work?

This is my thoughts, please advise.

Before upgrading my trans, I was only running edge J/A and on level 5, I would have some transmission slip. After adding on more power making components I had to upgrade the T/C and V/B.
As for the full tranny rebuild it all depends on how much money your willing to spend and how much abuse are you going to inflict on the tranny.

talked a shop that installs ATS yesterday.

he said:
ATS stage 4/5 tranny - $5k installed
3yr / 100k mile warranty.

TC & VB installed - 2k
no warranty - either cummins/dodge or ATS.

looks like a signature loan/credit card for an ATS w/warranty is the "right" answer.

Make sure that quote is with all billet shafts and while its out maybe add a billet flexplate. Just my .02.

The above would be what I would use (no warranty implicit or explicit).

I hear Goerends has a liftime warranty on their converter and you DON'T have to buy the $4k transmission to get it. Some food for thought.

I'm surprised the TC comes before the VB. Does any one else have 2 cents on this?
