drilling holes in the bottom of the air box?

If I drill holes in the bottom of the air box for more air flow throught the filter, will it void my warranty? I just don't want to have some EDIT at the dealership give me a hard time, if they ever happen to notice the extra holes!

Thanks
Trey

I just drilled mine. I don't see how they could void the warranty for drilling holes in the air box.

I would (and have) drill the holes and not even worry about the warranty. That's just me though.

i used a 4" holesaw on mine for more air [put a course wire screen over the hole], then changed to a bhaf and didn't really worry about warrenty

My truck was in the shop the first week I had it, with less than 350 miles, It had a bad power steering leak. I guess this has just made me nervous to do anything to it. I now have 2200 miles on it, and it is hard to crank sometimes. I just don't want to give the service department any reason to not warranty anything!

Thanks
Trey

I've heard about the whole drilling holes idea, but aren't you guys concerned about getting water up into the air filter more easily via the holes, or does the placement of the airbox make that a non-issue? I don't know - that's why I'm asking - not trying to accuse anyone of anything.

I drilled several holes in my air box. I asked a few guys that already did this, same question about water. Unless your going through some high water, no problem. my 2 cents

So what do you do when it snows? Not drive the truck or block off the holes somehow?

So what is the performance gain from drilling holes. Is there real numbers I could look at on mpg and hp.

The idea isn't for more power or mpg, but to help keep EGTs down on a bombed truck...

I'll probably drill mine tomorrow, until I get a Scotty
