DPPI Exhaust Came Today...

...and I can't wait to put it on. Unfortunately, I probably won't have the time to do it before next weekend.

I'll give a full report on the install with pictures when I'm done.

Good point. Must leave work now!! Have to install exhaust!!

Actually, I have to find a sawzall before I can take the stock exhaust off. Of all the saws I have that is not one of them. I'm not sure why the stock exhaust won't come out in one big piece, but I trust that it doesn't because everyone says you have to cut it.

Think anyone on ebay would want to buy a stock exhaust with 26,000 miles on it??

If people can sell used gym socks, Ahnold's cough drop, and the world's largest french fry, why not?

Heck Yes!

Get that sucker off without cutting it. There is always someone out there looking to hand you money for good used parts. The only problem is that it would probably have to be someone local. They would have to pay truck freight to ship that thing in one piece. Definately worth a shot though.

I figure if I can get it off in one piece (or maybe even two if one isn't possible....although I don't know why it wouldn't be) then it doesn't hurt to list it and see what happens. Even if I only got $20 it's still $20 I didn't have before (and I won't be putting it back on).

Hoss , congrats on finally getting the dppi. Did you get it on yet? Getting it out in one piece will be really tough, and I bet once you're done installing it, you'll wish you paid $65 like I did to have it done at a shop I was faced with buying a $115 sawzall and doing it myself and swearing a lot, or paying $65, so I went the latter route. Let us know how you like it!

I haven't even crawled under the truck yet to see what's involved in swapping it out. Somehow I doubt my local muffler shop would do it for $65 though. They do good work but they've been really high on everything I've ever priced with them. Besides, where's the enjoyment in letting someone else do it??

Hoss, you should have seen the enjoyment on my face watching the kid sweating and swearing taking my stock exhaust off, finally cutting it , and bolting the new one on. I just went to my local midas. The local muffler shop wanted $80. If you call them up and tell them around what you'd like to pay, and that it's an easy straight bolt on system, I think you may be surprised. I definitely like doing things myself but didn't want the stock junky exhaust system or the hassle. It basically for me came down to the $115 sawzall vs the $65 install cost, and the time/hassle. If I had an auto lift I might have considered it

Installation cost me $3 at the base Hobby Shop. An hour of lift time. I did buy everyone lunch afterwards.

With a lift and some MD temperatures it would have been a fun project

Buy the sawzall and do it yourself. You get the enjoyment and pride of doing something yourself PLUS you get to buy a new tool that every man should have.

A 6" grider with a cut off wheel works just fine too!

A dremel with a cut off wheel would work also. Maybe a little slow but it would work. A hacksaw would work to.
