Just installed a Nelson 5x 51 inch ,straight in and out, reduced to 4 inch ,mine had a baffle in the middle, was really torn wether to open it up,decided for now to leave it.Really pleased with the sound, had a magnaflow and a flowmaster before that. The truck seems to take off from a dead stop now with no bog.Your local cummins dealer carries them, sorry don,t mean to steal your thread.

I had the Donaldson M090535 installed today...

The noise Don is referring to is really noticeable at idle. I hope it softens some once the muffler is sooted up a bit

Overall, though, it *is* nice and deep, without getting loud. Even at WOT.

No, the M090544 is 4" in/out. I just had mine installed last week.

was it a straight through muffler or did you have to break the baffles?

Mine has baffles and I did not open them up. I dont know about the sound, I do not have speakers on my computer. Mine is barely louder then stock. You can look up the one you want on this site.

are you going to try and remove the baffle or are you going to keep it or get rid of it?

I am leaving the baffle, I was going to punch it out but decided to just leave it.

I wanted a little louder muffler, but will drive this awhile and see how I like it. I added a 5" tip yesterday and that made the sound deeper. But I tow alot and make long trips, so did not want to chance it being to loud or getting drone.

I am going to put all new 4" exhaust pipe in the next 2 yrs, if I decide then to go a little louder I will put the 40" donaldson in.

And I did not remove the cat.

I just dumped my Aero Turbine 4040 and installed the Donaldson 90535. A lot quieter and doesn't sound like a Honda coffee fart can when you get on it. NO Drone on the freeway at 70 mph and 2000 RPMs. Just Awesome, I love it
