I know silly question but I have noticed in the last 10k miles or so that I can here my Turbo a lot more than I used in (in fact I only ever heard it before in tunnels). I got used to it really quick but when I have passengers they constantly ask me where the cop is! Between 1800-2100 before the exhaust and other motor noise overwhelms it the Turbo makes a very audible in the cab (over other road noise and radio) whine. Is this age creeping into the truck of has possibly the cracked injector and diesel oil bath the bearings and motor parts where subjected to cause my turbo to start a downward spiral towards destruction?

 

I don't know about the turbo, I don't really see why it would but I know the exhaust system can get louder with age.

 

The turbo makes more noise, especially what you describe, when its damaged.

 

Yep, mine made a lot more noise when the turbo blades started to get chewed from dirt coming through the K&N filter. Check the turbo blades.
