Does ECM have a "break in" function
Does ECM have a "break in" function
I just had a new short block installed by the dealer. I've been driving it like I stole it and inspecting everything I can see and hear on a daily basis. I figure if something wasn't tightened properly or cracked during remove/replace I want to find it as fast as possible.
Is there anything in the ECM that the deal could have loaded that is there for the engine break-in process?
My real question... is it safe to load a programmer or should I give it 1000 miles or 30 days or something?

theres no timer built into the ecm functions that lasts longer than the key is on, so theres no way for them to "detune" for a given amount of break-in time and then to normalize it. but i would honor the break in time none-the-less to give all the bearings and moving assemblies a chance to wear in their groove.
Also it is especially important now to 1) cool down before 2) maintain as much oil PSI as possible before every shut off.
