Question Do I need to ---

I was wondering : I just ordered a Quad tow box for my fathers 06 HO auto. He uses the truck to and from work and alot of towing on the hay farm. Usually around 15,000 to 18,000 #'s. He wanted a little extra power and mileage so I got him the quad towing box. He is the type guy that will not keep an eye on the egt's so this being the main reason I only went with the towing box. Now I guess to my real questions. I know these trucks come with 4" from the factory. Do they flow very well ? Should I get an aftermarket muffler to help the flow? He doesn't want it any or much louder than stock. Should I get an aftermarket intake to help with mileage and Egt's. Also another thing to keep in mind is he is very tight with his money ( he has it just won't let go of it ) I am also throwing around the idea of BHAF and custom torque tube. Which I have done on a buddys 04 and turned out really good. The only thing I worry about with the BHAF is sitting open in the engine compartment. Gets REALLY REALLY dusty in the hay fields. THanks for any input. Andy

I would add in an AFE intake and take out the cat and put in a high flow muffler. I think MBRP has a kit to do both. That will help keep it a bit cooler but I hit 1400* towin 8000lbs in the trailer in stock trim so he may still have an issue if he is heavy footed up the hills. The quad stuff runs pretty cool though for the power its makin.

I run the Edge w/attitude and have only hit 1100 towing 8000+ lbs from MA to TX going through some pretty steep grades in between. This is towing at speed of 65-75mph

Muffler and a BHAF would work out great. With the BHAF just go with the outerwears and wash it (outerwear cover) often. The dust is going to effect anything, including the stock air filter. With the outerwears the filter will have a long life.

my bhaf works great for farm work, just replaced my first one this week, after 40 000 km. It has the outerwears cover.

love my tst for towing, but its not for someone who wont pay attention to guages

Also just put on the MBRP 30" straight through muffler, I installed right where the cat was, backwards, louvers towards the front. Close to as quiet as stock in the cab, can be heard well when on the go pedal, love it

before that I had a gutted cat and no muffler, terrible drone at 1400 and 2100 rpm. Had a headache after half an hour of hauling 14 1500 lb hay bales
