If I'm not mistaken, A stock turbo is capable of 10 GPM.

Do you really think that it would suck up water? There is still the stock opening near the fender. I would think that it would just plug the dryer tube and suck air from the stock opening.

I thought about that too. Why would it suck water (even submerged) when it would just pull it from the stock location? It takes work to pull water.

In response to all the water jokes... Wouldn't that just lower my EGT's? I have half of a water/meth injection system now, right?

Seriously, I did not run a rubber tube down because of this, but I have seen posts from others that have run tubes, and they pulled thier filters after wet conditions, and did not have water on their filter. I just ran this elbow.

I'm really just kidding about the first part. Really.

I was worried about this too, but it’s not a problem. I was up north over the weekend and it was raining hard, with mud all over the place. I did 70 down the freeway and up to 40 on the mud roads. I had mud splashed water stains in the tube behind the fog light cover too. I checked the filter 4 or 5 times and it was dry as a bone.

Hahahaha... I love those things...
At first I thought you were talking about the screen off my trailer on the pipe with the duct tape holding it on. "Honey, do you know what happened to the screen outside the livingroom?" "Nope, but I got my air box done!"

I just got my Airaid drop in replacement, and I can tell a difference with this setup... faster spool up, more turbo noise, and 2-3 MPG+.

Check out this web page re: concerns with water getting "sucked in" . It pretty much answers many of the concerns I've seen posted here:

We've had record rainfall in the Pacific Northwest. No problems with my airbox mod.
