Dipricol optix gauge wiring?? pyro & boost

I bought some used Dipricol optix gauges without instructions and have a couple question's???? (pyro and boost)

1.where are you guys getting power from?? (switched or constant?)

2.from searching the net it looks like I need a in-line fuse for the pyro is this true??? if so what size fuse???

3.My 01 had Isspro gauges and they where hooked up through the fuse box with fuse taps, cant I hook up the optix gauges the same way???

4.does the pyro take a different power source then the boost gauge.

5. Do the gauge lights hook in to the dash light circuit in the fuse box??

From the thread searching I did on here it says something like "you have to hook it up to a switched 12v source"

I'm kinda confused, I'm sure it is really simple but I wanted to make sure I get it right the first time without screwing around all day!

I tried to find Dipricol specific instruction's but cant find any If you know a link to any instructions PLEASE let me know

Thanks in advance guy's!!

1. Alot of guys get power from the cigarette lighter... It only has power when the key is on.
2. I don't know.
4. The same power source will be fine.
5. The best place to hook up the lights is off of the dimmer switch. Take the dimmer switch/light switch out and *I think* it's the black/orange wire on the bottom. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Dipricol's instructions suck...

If you had the install instructions on how to wire for the egt from DiP they're screwed up anyways. It doesn't say to wire in to a switched power but you need to.
Don't ask me why this is but it took a 3rd gauge and "I'm going to try switched" before I got it to read properly.
I ran mine off of the hot side of the isolater I installed for my camper charging wire. No issues since.

I tied into the cig lighter for keyed power and pulled the dimmer switch useing a test light to find the dimmer wire. When I got the test light to dim bingo.

I pulled the power for both the pyro and boost from the fuse box using the clips. I just used a test light to find a fuse that was only on when the key was on. For the light circut, I did the same but grabbed one that was on with the lights. I was not concerned about being able to dim the gauges. I can always change this later if I want to. I have been getting some occasionally weird readings on the pyro though that has prompted me to grab another fuse to see if that will correct it. I will let you know how that works.

I tried to tie into the cig lighter but in my truck the wires are buried behind the dash and I don't want to tear the whole dash apart.

I was going to grab power at the fuse box but after the above post I'm not sure

any others have input???

come on 06 owner's tell me where you plugged in at!!

BTW any body else think the boost gauge puts a kinda purple tint out of the middle at night???

Reach up there and put a scotch lock on the cigerete lighter...that is the best "fused" switchable power source. I used the brown/orange dimmer wire for the lighting.

I don't know about other years but my 06 cig lighter is buried I cant find the wires without taking the whole dash apart

my lighting is done I hooked to the dimmer switch, but the pyro power is what I need.
I would like to use the cig lighter I never use it so it would be perfect.
it's just encased in plastic and I don't know how to get back there

I took the dash piece by my legs and took out the cup holders and pulled down the next piece but after that it looks like the whole front dash comes off and I mean every thing.

I was hoping someone with an 06 can chime in.

another problem may be that I just need to yank on the dash to get it out but I would HATE to break a dash clip or something, so am I just being to careful???

here's a pic of the panels (circled in white)I removed but still can not get to the cig lighter wires.

I know I'm probably making this a lot harder then it should be. I just can believe that the whole dash would have to come apart to get to the cig lighter wires.

Thanks for any more help you have to offer

This is a pretty old post but it reminded me of the idiots at best buy...not trying to insult anyone. I went to get an iPod cable installed a while back and they started to tear off everything from the bottom cup holder part all the way up, they all felt like idiots when I told them that all you had to do was pull gently on the chrome looking part starting from the gauge cluster side to get acces to stereo and cig lighter.

Been trying that on mine, but cannot get it to budge. No other panels need to be removed? Just pull the silver panel? Trying to install gauges and also need to tap a switched source and a dimmer output.
