and turn the ring about one tooth further CW than the OEM position.

I think one tooth is too much, I think one tooth equals 6*, as you are looking at the front of the Tone Ring, you only want to take out about 1/16th of an inch out of the left side of the dowel pin hole. The bolts will keep you from advancing too much.
okay, CRAP.
i need to buy someone's sensor who did the Rokktech.
could not get the balancer off (engine kept turning) so i tried to pull the sensor out and grind it some, broke it in half.
wired & soldered it back together, but i'd like to have a spare in the dash
i ground off quite a bit, gonna test drive now...we'll see...

Did my tone ring mod this afternoon, took about 20min. There is quite a noticable difference in low end power well worth the whole 20min it took. Don;t know about mileage yet though, will have to wait a while for that because I only drive about 50-60 miles a week, at most.
So much for trying it on my truck this weekend. My hot water heater broke Friday night while I was out of town and my house is still full of water. Notice the time on this post! I give up. I can't get ahead in this world for starting over all the time.

if i look at the motor from the front
it spins in the CW directoin
and i want to take the tone ring off and
file the trailing edge of the dowel hole, which is on the CCW edge (from the front) (file the back side of the hole, so it can move further ahead of the position it is in now)
and turn the ring about one tooth further CW than the OEM position.
do i need to take a A TON pics on this, and someone can post a FAQ?

tks Hoss, i could not break the bolts loose with my air ratchet (cheapie)
and then the compressor started making noises, so i pulled the sensor,
and broke it, and ground thru the body, just put some TESTOR's model glue on it.
MPG seems improved on overhead.

anybody want to sell their stock sensor?
I need 2, one for me, one for son in law.
it's easier to grind sensors than it is to pull the balancer,
and then you can adjust it easier, too.

Modifications - Tone Ring / Air Box
Today I did the Tone Ring / Air Box modifications on my 2003. THANKS GUYS, all the instructions were right on the money and from start to finish it took about 2 hours (w/ clean up). That was with many stops to re-read the posts and verify certain information.
I have been getting about 400miles to a tank/that is approximately 13.5 miles to the gallon (35 gallon tank). Apparently I am only getting about 29.5 gallons in the tank so the #s are adjusted accordingly (Tank Vent Update - Next?).
I will post my new results once they are in - THANKS AGAIN!

Did I crank it to far clockwise? Not really seeing any difference. Maybe a little difference on the bottom end. I probably rat-tail-filed out about 1/8 inch.....about half way to the bolt hole to the left. Anybody seeing any difference on the HO 06's? Watching the overhead monitor, it's gone up 4 tenths. I'll be checking by hand calculation at the next fillup.
Basically, what I got was better "Off the line" performance. It has to be worthwhile if you can actually feel the difference in my opinion. How many times have you spent money on performance mods only to jump in for a ride and it feels exactly the same?
If you can feel it, it was worth doing.
If you get better mileage that's even better........

Well I just got back from a 350+ mile trip towing my Jeep. I averaged 12.5mpg towing the ~6000lb tandem axle trailer with a brick on top, doing about 65 on the interstate and on various back roads in the mountains. Of course this is my first long trip with the trailer so I don't have any pre-mod milage figures, but she sure pulled like a champ
