Any drawbacks to this?

Does this increase tranny wear / tc wear? Assuming your not using it like an idiot of course. Any other drawbacks?

Sorry for newbie-type questions, but what 'round plug' are we talking about? And are the pins numbered on the plug/relay or are #'s 30, 87, and 7 service manual references? Thanks.

The Relay has Several numbers, It looks like this

()30 ()87A

()85 ()86 ()87

You need to run a wire from 30 to 87, not 87A.

The round 7-pin plug I'm talking about is on the side of the transmission on the driver's side. The clip on it is facing to the passenger side, just push it in and pull up. I used a flashlight and looked at the back of the plug (where wires go into) and found Pin #7. I took off the insulation, wrapped a wire around it, soldered, then liquidelectricaltape'd it. I have not been on the highway with it yet, so I don't know if it downshifts or not.

Well, I'm an idiot with >500whp and I've been abusing the hell out of the switch and my input shaft lives. I even did a 15psi 4wd launch, got rolling to about 10, and hit the switch. WOW.

Mine is a manual switch. It is push button switch right now. When I race I usually wait until I hit second gear good and then press the lockup switch and hold until the end of the 1/4. It will lock up this way in any gear and it will kill the engine if you lock it up idleing. On the dyno when I lock it up with the switch in OD and then rolled into the throttle too hard it did down shift to third while still locked up.

Michael gave me a resistor to use if I want to change to a toggle type switch.

My lockup is normal with tow/haul on or off unless I use the switch.

I'll get a picture tommorow. It's simple, get under the driver's side of the truck, look at the transmission. There is a squarish plug and a round one. Take the round one off.

Well, I was tempted to do a little video. 4x4 launches are wayyyyyy more fun now.

http://www.laredoturbocars.com/video/lockupfun.wmv

I don't have enough power to spin my 37's into OD though. Or maybe it's because I had defueling set at 1650, not sure. But that video shows ya how much power gets to the ground.

Also, you can lug the engine (as shown in the first part of the video). But eh. It's fun.

hope this works, the 7 pin ground only gave me a limp mode, how did you figure this out and exaclty how do you run the wire ,do you just mean jumper style

all you need to do is put a 33ohm resister inline with your ground intsead of messing with the fuse block. i have this on my 05 and there are no codes with this setup.....
