Death woobblle gone

So with the help of all the reading I've done on this site i made some changes to my truck to try to get away from this death wobble problem. I made one change at a time and the only one that worked for me was the E rated tires. I had D rated BFG's AT's and when I changed the tires at the tire shop the man said O no you cant run D rated tires on this big truck. I wanted to punch him, that is the same store i bought those tires 18 months ago. But whatever. I'm just glad to be able to drive down the road without getting butterflys everytime i come to a rough patch. Thanks for all the input from all...

Todd

You can run larger D rated tires. A 35" D rated tire has more load capacity than a stock E tire. Now if you were running a stock or one size up D rated tire, that could be problematic if you haul really heavy.

The reason why your death wobble is gone has more to do with tread design, BFG are the worse for death wobble, something about that AT tread pattern really bites the road funny.

for me it took a dual stabilizer setup to get rid of the death wobble. I put a new single on and that didn't do the trick. I have 315 bfg's but will be going "E" rated next time. The load rating may be the same but when going from 50 to 80 max psi I think it makes the difference in tire flex.

Check your tie rod end at the pitman arm.I got the weeble woobles a year after I installed my lift and after many hours trying to figure it out it was the tie rod end.It had less than 1/8 play.

There's plenty of things that can contribute to DW... it's always a good idea to check alignment and component wear before throwing new parts at it.

Balanced tires w/good tread

Proper caster adjustment in lower control arms

Steering dampener in good condition

Replace soft OEM trackbar bushings

Correct trackbar length for ride height change (lifts)

Install sector shaft stabilizer

etc. - no doubt there's more, but you get the idea

well just finished replacing the tr by the pitman arm and the one that holds the steering stabilizer shock, the steering stabilizer is basically new too, i put it there about a week ago trying to see if that was the problem. now i got to bring the truck to get it align and balance, hopefully this will help to get rid of the dw, i hate driving this thing specially when i got my 5 month old baby with me which is almost all the time.
