I'm real tempted. If I can find someone local to help pull them and replace them, I might go through with it after I get back from my vacation next week.

How do you know if there is a cracked injector? I've heard that some had this problem and didn't even know it. But me's thinks that they just weren't knowledgeable about diesels.

If you have a cracked injector, there will be fuel in the oil and a power loss. Watch your fuel gauge. It sounds like it happens pretty quick sometimes.

I can get my hands on a TST box pretty cheap and I may have to do that to get the power I'm wanting. My truck makes nice smooth power right now so I may just keep what I've got depending on the dyno numbers.. We'll see... Now I have to wait till the second week of next month for all this. It's gonna be tough waiting!!!

Oh, and DonM, I don't mind if you hook me up with some injectors that will get me to those super high power numbers!!! I may be going to a TST/EZ stack soon if that makes a difference in how you handle the honing....

If I had to do it over again, my mods would be:

1a) camshaft
1b) injectors

camshaft for 300% improvement over stock truck driveability
injectors for reasons you stated above

Not trying to plant ideas in your head...

DDP rocks too (they did my cam install last year) because they are straight-up and you know what you're getting with before and after dynos BEFORE you plunk down any $$.

Did you get a ride in Lenny's 12-valve conversion?

Don M, Can you explain heavily honed? Say 50, 70 or 90. is this light honed? and over 100 is heavily honed? What would be the limit of integrity honed stock injectors? thanks

Sorry, let me be more clear. I'm talking about cr system on stock injectors. For me that would be a 05. You say anything from 50 to 100hp can cause damage, then you say in moderation. Does that mean 40hp and under for common rail?

thanks again

I think what Don is trying to say is: One key to honing is not doing too much of it. That means starting with the right size holes, and just using the honing to polish and radius the inner edge a bit.

I sounds like these DDP injectors are performing real nicely!!
Sounds like they have great prices and good product.

What more could you ask for!!

I am glad they aren't trying to get rich off of every sale unlike some others vendors

you know i am sitting here reading all of this back and forth about this hone dont hone i do this he does this etc and its kind of ticking me off. DDP (i am not affiliated) is producing a great product that is making kick butt hp and for a price that is fair. I guess some around here dont realize that once the R&D is done and some $ is recovered the price should go down but i have never seen this. The only thing i have ever seen is the price go up. Now here comes a competitor that is going to steal alooot of others business and still get rich at a fair price I say rock on......All of this dont do this will not make me spend another $1300 on the others injectors. Instead I will buy a turbo and injectors and break even DDP's name (on every website I visit) is spreading like wildfire! Despite what i have read about honeing can you guess what set will be in my truck and everyone else i know ....these scare tactics are not working on me. Edge EZ boxes will cause more injector failures than honeing will!

The cheap price DDP is offering is only until the end of February, then they will most likely be similarily priced to others.

Don,
A couple years back you were saying honed injectors were safe to use but did not atomize properly.

You also said that EDM process on an existing tip was dangerous and only could be done to a new tip.

Let me get this straight....
Now honed injectors are not safe?

Let me know if I am misquoting you here.

Scare tactics.....
