I have a few questions for all you guys with gauges.

First, why don't more people place their added gauges on the dash? It seems like the place that would be most convienent for viewing. There is also plenty of room for 3 gauges and you don't loose your grab handle. For those with other mounts, why did you choose them over dash mounts?

I am asking because I have never added gauges to any vehicle so I have no actual experience with this. Is there a reason that dash mounts don't work well? Hard to see in the sunlight? Gauge lighting causes glare on the windshield at night?

Do any vendors make a low profile 3 gauge dash mount for 3rd gens that fits forward near the windshield between the defrost vents? If so, does it match well? Does anyone here have pictures?

I like my dash mount (from Geno's). I tried out both methods, and I just couldnt stand the "in your face" feel of the A pillar mount. The color isnt quite a perfect match, but I dont notice it much looking from the drivers seat. I havent experienced any glare issues at all - my guages are older black face, and dont put out much light at night. The only issue I have with it is that the wiring will cause your dash to not fit down quite perfect. I'm sure with more playing around with it, I could have gotten the wiring routed better. But like a novice, I didnt leave myself enough wire up above to move it around.

 

At first I planned to only add one gauge. (EGT) I like the looks of the SRT-10 pillar, so thats where I put it.
Then I decided I just had to have a couple more, so I put them on the stearing column.
