CTD junk?
CTD junk?
I went into a Banks dealer today to check prices on an aftermarket intake. As soon as I walked in, the guy at the counter looked out the window at my truck ('05 2500 4x4 quad) and said, "What do you need for that". I asked about prices on an intake. The man states, "You need to invest in a lifter pump first. It's the weakest link on your truck. If you don't replace it now, you'll be spending $4500 on it in no time to get it fixed". He followed that up with miscellaneous "Your truck's a piece of crap" statements. This is the first I've heard of the lifter pump issue. I've got 21000 miles so its still under warranty anyway. I cannot believe that this place stays in business if it treats customers like that.
Ultimately, I purchased an AFE stage II PG7. I'll put it in today. I had a 30 inch flowmaster put in last night to add to the Edge/Attitiude programmer that I had previously installed. Any suggestions as to where I should go from here? I tow a 39' fifth wheel that weighs 15500 fully loaded w/toys and water. The only other mods that I have done are air bags (helper springs) and a tranny temp guage. I dont want more power yet, I just want the truck to stay cool and be efficient since I plan on owning it for YEARS to come.

Next time something like this happens give the guy the finger and buy from a different shop. It sounds like he doesn't know what he's talking about anyway. A lift pump won't cost anywhere near $4500 even if it causes the CP3 to fail also!
I think I was mileading in my original post. I told him that the junk was parked next to mine out front (dually POSD). Three guys at work hate their F-250's due to multiple problems. That's why I chose the Dodge. I had my kids with me so no finger. I'll tell everyone I can not to buy from there though. I drove down the street a purchased from another dealer. Probably paid $15 more for it, but it was worth it. I'll never set foot around that dealer again! The dealer is in central California.

Dont worry about your lift pump if you are going to keep it stock, if it has an issue the dealer will fix it under warranty. Yes a new fuel system is nice, also with the filtered units keeps fuel cleaner and cuts the air out of diesel fuel, but if you put an aftermarket pump on the dealer has a valid claim to try to void your warranty. You may be helping the truck yes, but the dealer will hastle you about warranty. If it aint broke dont fix it, let her eat.
I tow over 20K of hay on my gooseneck trailer, and i have a 2500, and im on 35's, havent had a problem...
His truck is not stock guys...read the signature.
Reason I advise a fuel kit is so that you dont run your fuel pump dry.
The in-tank lift pump that dodge/chrysler provides with the truck has proven to be substandard in my opinion.
The factory fuel filter is also something I dont care for.

Didnt even read his sig, in his case yes get a fuel pump to save your injector pump, a must many people overlook when installing upgrades but very important. (FASS,GDP,AIRDOG,Whalbero, ETC)
I am still under warranty, according to my dealership. They recommended the Edge/attitude instead of pillar guages. I said, "I don't want to do that. It will void my warranty". The service tech said, "As long as your not running it in 5 all the time, you'll be fine". I have installed it and only use it for the guages in the "0" setting so far. The only piortion of my warranty that is void is the exhaust warranty. They gave me the green light on the programmer and intake. As far as the exhaust, he said I'm on my own. We'll see if I have to take it in for anything. I'll be taking the programmer off though.
