Cracked injector line

truck started leaking fuel, figured fast pump or maybe fuel pressure gauge line- ya know, something simple. After close inspection, I found the number 4 injector line with a hair line crack, near where the line connects to the injector. I was kind of suprised to find the crack.

I know this is common on older power jokes, but I haven't really heard of this on common rail cummins engines. Anybody have any guesses as to why? the truck has never had the injectors touched, still stock there

Mine did the same thing on the same line.

My clamp was loose, and I just forgot to tighten it. One of those thing's that I really needed to do.

The new line from the dealer is $54. It's $28 from Cummins.

line

yeah the support bracket is still on the line, and all the bolts are tight. seems like the line was maybe not bent to the correct radius from the factory, and the stress and vibration over time caused it to finally give? I don't know?

The truck has had a funny rattle for about a month now, I was unable to lock it down. Tried everything. Must have had a really small crack and it was sucking air? the sound sure sounded like an injector/timing rattle. hopefully now the rattle is gone

common problem 4 cracks and 6 would crack on the earlier trucks until they added a bracket on the engine lift bracket.

just had my number 4 line go aswell right at hte fitting before going to the injector..i used to be able to hear that rattle when the little blue tensioner would loosen off and i would tighten it up but with the new srt10 hood i cant hear it and forgot to check it and i guess it just had enof vibration to crack the line

My 06 did that(stock) on number 4 and number 1 a month later. They didn't like crack or a hairline fracture, these completely split in half like they were cut with a hacksaw. I had diesel everywhere under the hood and I was going 70mph and it got all the way back to the rear axle.

Just replaced my number 4 the other day. Was cruising down the road, and all of a sudden it sounded like I had an exhaust leak or something. Just sounded like air shooting out when I got on it. Wasn't leaking any fuel, just air. Replaced it and alls good. Was 36.50 at the dealer
