Cost of Painting a SRT 10 Hood

I think I am getting hosed on a price. They want like $500 for paint and install. I can install it myself but the truck is going in for something else and they might as well do it while it's there.

Is $500 over the top? Seems hight to me. I thought $350 should cover it.

Depends on the quality of the shop but $500 doesn't really sound that high. Yes you can get it cheaper, but $500 for paint and install sounds right.

if you are getting other paint work done at the same time I would think that is a little high.

I was quoted $450-$500 last year when I was thinking about doing it, and that wasn't installed. I called 4 or 5 places

I had a shop paint my Leer 1000 XQ fiberglass truck cap which in all is all windows the Dupont paint in brilliant black cost the shop 180.00 bucks because of 7 to 8 different color pearls in the black paint not a cheap paint and it matched 100% perfect to my surprize, but to answer you post if they are installing the hood and not you they are going to charge you for that, because in the end they have to make sure it fits like it should and they add for that, and if they use a qaulity paint like Dupont makes a difference too.
not a bad price if the above are met. as for mine it was free and in that you learn the truth when they tell you the time and qaulity of the product you got.

I got a quote of $1,100 yesterday which included the hood so that's about $500.00 for the paint and install.

It's going on next Thursday along with some clear Recon clearance lamps.

I was quoted $400 to just repaint my stock hood.

Thankfully, I found one for $200 used, in great condition......

Thanks everyone.

Hey Byron you also have a Patriot Blue truck. They are a bit tougher to paint. They have to be careful of the metal flakes and getting the color right. So I would not bargain hunt. Go with a good shop that will get it right

I was quoted $1000 plus taxes for the hood; painted and installed from a reputable shop.

I thought about doing the same thing. So I had a buddy of mine who works in the industry give me a quote.. He said like 4 to 5 bills.. Mostly because of prep. Not just your hood but your quarterpanels too.. a good shop will pain the hood and blend it with your QPs so it has a more even look.

I had a Ram Air hood put on my 95 Trans Am and a very reputable shop charged me $700 to install the hood, paint it, and blend it in. They did an awesome job but when I went to trade the car in, with the stock hood back on it, they gave me a hassle and told me the car had been repainted and must have been in a wreck. This was after inspecting the area where they had blended in the hood to the fenders. For me, in the future, I will just have the part painted and put it on myself if possible.
