No, it does not matter how low you go on the thermostat,it'll work only until it opens the 1st time, then it'll get hotter, except for the winter, then it'll run cooler.

That's all fine & dandy for you all that aren't towing!
What temps are you seing when you tow?
Are you still running factory coolant(G-05)?

I'm towing at 80 degrees and it'll get around 210!

My Oulook monitor runs about 13-15 degrees higher than actual. I normally see 190 and my Outlook reads 203. Hope that helps......the Outlook reads high.

Thanks for all the helpful ideas, But Highstakes finally gave me an answer that's worth noting.

Thanks Highstake. My outlook reads 210 - 215 when my factory needle is standing straight up 200.

Napa has a good 180 thermostat, looks like the factory one and works really good. Truck runs about 10 degrees cooler all around, I like it.

Thermostats don't open all the way when they open up. The hotter it gets, the more they open up. Mine runs 10 degrees cooler everywhere.

If I lived up north, I'd keep the factory 190, but I'm loving my 180 right now.

empty truck, the coolant temp needle is just below the halfway line, oil temp is around 210.
towing 10k lbs, coolant will go to the right of the halfway line, oil temp 230-250*.

I would have never thought that the oil temps on these CR's would be that high.

I've never seen more than 215*F oil temps on the '05, but I measure at the top of the oil cooler.
