cquestad,

We have talked on the phone and he has given me more advice than anyone on this site. Including the maker and distributor of the product.

THe man has ALOT of knowledge...

This is a forum to discuss products. That is all we are doing. Sometimes people don't like it when it isn't what they want to hear...

I think it's great info to get out and I appreciate it.

I have had posts directed at me telling me that my problems are caused because I had a bully dog on first. The info he is posting is EXACTLY what we need to know so we can all understand that it isn't the problem, so we can move foward and try to find out what is.

I know some people don't like polls... But these polls do show how many people have had problems that need to be fixed ASAP.

Luken,

It has nothing to do with what I like...you need to talk to Marco or Stefano...why have you not emailed/PM'd me for their email address?

Nobody else knows squat about the Smarty. That is the whole point.

You have no idea whether the BDDL has caused the problem or not...whether I say yes and he says no...still does not prove a thing. I simply ststed that it "HAS" happenend before. Did any of "his" clients so to speak have the Scary tune? NOPE. Think about it.

Please don't waste your time...and go to the source for info before bad word of mouth is unduly spread.

Not trying to offend....I feel for your situation. You may be just like me...my temper can outrun my brain now and then.

A year a go...I could have flown off the handle and spread all kinds of bad ATS comments. When it was all said and done, they had nothing to do with it. AND...they helped me out...and entire rebuild on there own dime even though they had no fault...NADA. A crappy installer that I had to use down in the greater Salt Lake area (I should spread this info....the world needs to know...screwed my friend too) when I had to R&R because of a snapped intermediate shaft simply installed a crate tranny wrong...and it ate itself up!

I could have ranted and raved about how crappy ATS is...and would have been WAY OFF.

Let it all sort out...get Marco/Stefano involved...as I said before...they are the only ones that have an answer.

PM me the email address please!

I got on the forums and tried to talk to Bob. That is who the Smarty was bought from. From the sounds of it he has been with Marco this ENTIRE week. How hard would it have been to ask him to please get on the forums and help this guy out?

I think alot of people are wondering the same thing Vacation or not, when you release a new product and people are having problems, you make time. Not trying to start a flaming war here but I have several parts on my truck from other companies and if I have a problem I know I can call their cell phone at 3am and they will answer and give me all the advice I need.

Once again, Please pm me the address. If I can get off in time I'm going to the dealer today. If not I'll have to wait until Monday. I know some have said reload the Smarty but I can't do that with the problems I've already had.

Same exact "scarry larry" program. There are others that I have talked to that have ran both as well.

SEMA is nuts...I find it totally acceptable for someone to be out of touch while there. It is a make or breal show for a small business like his.

I PM'd you Stefano's email. He will help you out. I would pull your TST...and get the latest SW from the Mads website...and upload a program into your truck to get it working...and wait for the rest to sort out.

Good luck.

Luken,

Just cause it worked for him...still does not mean nothing was not corrupt with yours...Smarty or BDDL. Every time something is downloaded, emailed, uploaded, etc there is a possiblity for something to go wrong...due to the electronic demons out there.

Yesterday was my first drive with the smarty, on SW3. My clutch is on the way out due to abuse towing a 3k lb trailer with BDTD on CL tune. The SW3 program didn't slip the clutch w/ the truck unloaded, and power is NICE. It feels about as strong as the BDTD "Performance" tune. Smoke was about the same too. For only an advertised 60 HP gain, it's FAST! I left the boost fooler on the truck (mainly because I forgot to remove it ) but boost only hit 30 psi and slightly climbed to 35 psi before shifting.

The only thing I noticed, and it may only be because I'm looking for it due to other people's reports/complaints, is more engine noise. It appears the motor makes more noise when cold, and vibrates more. It seems like I felt more vibration through the steering wheel and clutch pedal than before, and I see a slight vibration at certain RPMs in the side mirrors. It also seems to make more "diesel engine" sound at part throttle while crusing. I wouldn't call it a knock, but just more of the typical diesel clank....more like a non-common rail CTD. Again, this all may be in my head, but the motor just doesn't seem as silky smooth as it used to be (for a diesel).

Power delivery and throttle response is AMAZING! I like the way it drives on SW3 over the Crazy Larry tune! The response is about the same, it produces about 95% of the same bottom end power, and no more 2k RPM flat spot. The Crazy Larry seemed to keep that same 2k RPM flat spot that the motor has bone stock. Just at light throttle acceleration, the motor just feels like it's done at 2k RPM and needs shifting. I normally shift before 2k RPM anyway, but it was annoying. On SW3, this is GONE. It has a more linear pull now. Power past 3k RPM is incredible. I was shocked that it pulled BETTER on SW3 past 3k RPM than the crazy larry did!! This thing has to be an animal on SW9.

Anyway, Luken I hope you're closer to getting your issue resolved, and I hope people don't continue to have issues with the Smarty....it's a great product.

LooseBoltsRob,

Awesome write-up! It looks like the Smarty works well on your truck! No one needs to convince me that the Smarty works well on some trucks... I've seen first hand what it can do.

I'm a little closer to getting it fixed... I have Stefans email address and I'm going to the dealer to see what we can find... If anything

Lucas

I completely agree with that. It is just false advertisement that Bob posts the the Smarty doesn't cause any problems. I've read the posts. We ALL just need to get over the fact that no downloader is perfect on ALL trucks.

loooseboltsrob- yes the diesel clank sound is normal for the early software version on the Smarty. I actually liked it better. It makes it sound more like a2 4 V truck. LOL Also, the increased noise when cold was fixed under the new software update.

I hope you have a good dealer to work with! I am not so fortunate here...the closest dealership to me has got to be one of the worst ones around. Good luck!

lmills,

Well, that was with the new update, #2 to be exact. I updated it before installing it for the first time. The changes in noises are very minimal, so maybe they are still there with the new updates, just not as pronounced as the original smarty CR tune.
