Unfortunately with any Product there is a chance that something can go wrong. 99% of the trucks out there will work just fine but every now and then for some reason the ECM and the product just fail to communicate properly.

I see it with the plug in performance boxes from time to time as well, for what ever reason they just refuse to work together even when you replace everything with tested stuff.

I know it sucks to be the one who just happens to own that 1% vehicle, so I do feel your pain.

I hope you get your issue fixed soon, you just happen to have the misfortune to have this happen during SEMA week to add to your troubles as well.

Hang in there, things could be a lot worse and I know Marco will do all he can to help you resolve this issue. Try to be patient, you already have been and it will pay off in the end

Thanks Lary.

I went into this hoping that the Smarty would give me something that I didn't have with the bully dog. I have seen first hand what the Smarty can do on some trucks....

To be honest... The day before I tested the Smarty I sent Bob a pm telling him that I was so excited to finally have my truck up and running again to try it. He was very talkitive and wanted to know my results.

Now that we have the results (not which any of us expected or wanted) the response is totally different. Maybe it's because of SEMA... I'll let you all make that decision...

I've got mine stacked the TST and EZ and have had no major problems motor wise. I love the stack. It did break the output shaft and flexplate at the same time though taking out a pump in my transmission (The only non-billet parts).

I had a little error that was fixed with an e-mail from Marco (Actually 1 from Stefano who works for Marco fixed it, one from Marco making sure it was fixed, and one from Bob Wagner making sure it was fixed) and then an update to the Smarty. Turns out when the Smarty says ok to unplug I did it to quick. Everything VIN locked and had to do a manual reboot with the Smarty that Marco led me through. He then had me load the newer software to prevent this from happening again. The new programming does seem to be a little bit easier to drive also (more driver friendly, less touchy).

Many are commenting on disliking being Beta testers. I think that beta testing was definitely done by Marco, but all 100% of problems would be impossible to anticipate. Not many businesses these days have this kind of customer support.

While I did vote for issues corrected by manufacturer. I would currently also vote for 100% satisfied.

I had the major timing issue because of running the original Smarty with injectors. However, both Bob and Marco responded to me immediately via PM and emails to resolve the problem. They sent me a special program for the guys with injectors to try and all is well now.

I dynoed higher with a TST and MP8. However, I would rather have the Smarty in the mix for day-to-day driving as it produced the fattest torque curve with the most area under it. The Smarty timing program contribution to fuel mileage enhancements also blows the doors off the TST timing contribution to fuel mileage improvements.

Right now I'm running the Smarty on 90 HP timing + MP8 as I just sent my TST off to get upgraded to adjustable timing and multiple stored programs.

I am also 100% happy with my Smarty on my 03. I just installed my Silverbullet turbo today and I was expecting more. I guess I need a TST now.

It only feels like I got about 35hp out of it. I guess its time to start staking???

The smarty that Luken has is mine for the 04, I never had any problem with it on my 04.5, the only gripe I had with that box is we're still waiting on the sled pulling program with more rpm. I put one on my 06 and it works fine, I've run 2 tanks of fuel through it and gained a solid 1 to 1.5 mpg. It's not near as smokey as the 04.5, probably because the small turbo on the 06 spools so quick. On 9 it will bark the tires pretty hard when it hits second if you've got it matted. Now the things that have happened that I'm not pleased about. When I spoke with Bob about buying this second box vs sending the other one in to have the board changed so it would work on either truck, Bob never told me that it's not possible to have a smarty that will work on 03 through 06 trucks, it takes a different smarty all together to be able to work on a 06 truck. I found all this out after I decided to purchase the 2nd smarty. No one lied to me but I wasn't told the complete story either. I hate it that Luken has had so much trouble with the box that I loaned him. I just knew he would love this thing on his truck cause it really woke my 04.5 up. I really figured he would be buying one. I have to say I'm pretty disapointed in the way the customer service on this whole issue has been handled. I own 2 of these boxes so it makes me a little nervous seeing all his problems being handled so poorly by the distributor. I've got a neighbor that wants to try mine on his 06 to see if he likes it and I know it'd be anothere sale of a smarty but at this point I'm not sure I will encourage him to go this route.

A little pressure is all you need! I'll loan you my EZ for the dyno runs this weekend.

I'm 100% satisfied. Great product!

Curious to know if most of the issues owners have with the SMARTY previously had another downloader installed.

I never had a downloader, but as stated I pretty much pulled out to early. And I thought that was a good thing.

I have a Bully Dog Power Pup that I really like, but I was still disatisfied with the low end power. I was still thinking that I was going to need a bigger turbo, injectors, bigger intercooler, etc, to get the performance that I was looking for daily driving. I set my truck back to stock back in January and haven't use it since. The thought there was to build up key counts in case I had to take the truck in for service with a warrenty issue.

Then I got the Smarty. Gone are the thoughts of a bigger turbo, injectors, though maybe a bigger intercooler yet. My most pressing need is to improve the clutch. For my humble expectations I am completely satisfied.

I know of five guys who bought Smarty's, two previously had downloaders. The one with severe issues has never had one, but does have injectors. The two with minor issues have never run a downloader, and one of those is completely stock except until the Smarty.

It's good to know that not all of the trucks had the bully dog before the Smarty.

CarcajouCummins,

You don't seem to be providing Luken any positive or constructive help or idea...only negative comments about a product you have very little experience with.

Why?
