Commander A-Pillar Problems
Well I drove around for about an hour and then came back to my house. I posted this thread and when I realized what I had done, I changed it around and drove again. I guess there was about 30 minutes between drives and I drove for no more than 10 minutes. I figured the temps would still be up there, but I may be wrong. I know it never got off of 100° though.....
I see your's likes to buldge away from flush against the OEM pillar as well. I think I'm going to remove both and velcro / double side tape on the bench - I ca see the 1/4" gap looking from the front of the truck.
They say it takes as long as 20 minutes to see temp guess. Have you given it that much time?
Yeah, it should have. Is yours in the hot line or in the test port? The next thing to do would be to jumper the purple wire straight to ground and see if the guage goes way high? If it does, the wiring and guage is o.k., but the sender is bad. If it doesn,t then you'll have a little more diagnostics to do. I am in no way affiliated with Quadzilla, but owning a few of their products ( and being a beta tester hopefully when it shows up !) I think I have a fairly good idea of how it works. I went through some troubles with my trans temp ghuage on my Commander. It ended up being a Commander problem, but I went through several things on the phone with Roark. This is kinda where we started.

Alright I just grounded out the purple wire and the reading on the Commander went to like 300°. Does that mean I have a bad temp sender? I put some teflon tape on the threads but I didn't put a ton. This shouldn't be the problem should it? A single wrap is all I did......
The next thing I would try is to put an jumper wire from ground to the body ( hex nut ) of the sender. See if it will read then. If it does, then there is either no ground on that line or too much teflon tape on the sender. If it still doesn't read then , yeah, proabably a bad sender.

So what I need to do is ground out the body of the sender and see if it gives me a reading? If I jump the stud that the ring terminal connects to it will just ground out correct? If the sender is hot and I just manualy ground it out from under the vehicle it should give me a reading for a second. I'll just get my fiance to watch it for me.....
Yeah, that should work. I would use a test light though, just to make sure you have a good ground. That would be easier! Just hook the other end (alligator end ) to power when you are looking for ground.
Well I guess I have good news in a way. After driving back to my house, I jumped under the truck a put a jumper between the sender's body and the frame. The number went up to a steady 172° on my Commander so I'm not getting a good ground somewhere. I guess I'm gonna check and see if I have too much teflon, but I doubt it. I'm guessing the cooler line from Diesel Manor is anodized or something on the top half and screwing with my ground connection.

That would be a lot easier. Lol. Thanks man.....
