Choosing a Valve Body and Torque Converter
Choosing a Valve Body and Torque Converter
My pan's coming down for an oil and filter change and the tranny may need to be dropped entirely to fix a weeping rear main or front pump seal. So, what valve body and torque converter shall I consider, and why? I'm hoping not to go all the way through the tranny right now. There's 82K miles on the clock.
My local installer recommends BD, but is open to other opinions. The application is principally for transmission longevity whilst towing, but one just can't avoid those occasional full throttle on-ramp romps. Truck is stock, and while I'd consider a programmer later, probably not much else in speed-shop type hardware on this vehicle. You have to draw the line somewhere.

Most of us are only going to have experience with one aftermarket transmission or VB,TC, if at all. That said, im extremely pleased with my recently built DTT trans, VB and triple disc TC. I had it all done at once so I can't speak directly to which of the 3 made the most difference, but I am guessing the TC. It really puts the power to the ground now. www.dieseltrans.com
Any of them are much better than the inefficient stocker.
