which "chip" for 600?

Im new here and to the dodge/ cummins diesel, but not diesels in general. I recently got an 04.5 2500 4x4 with an auto trans. I am putting an intake and a straight pipe on it monday and would like to also put a chip on it too. I have been doing a lot of research and i would like to either but the bully dog power pup or the edge juice with attitude on the truck. Is one better than the other? I want the one thats easiest on the transmission, not necessairly the most power. It seems that in my searching everyone likes TST, is this a better box, and will I need a tranny mod with it? I really would not like to have to mod the tranny as i dont plan to do boosted 4x4 launches or anything. I really like how the edge will have everything in one easy to use monitor and am leaning towards this box if it is a good and safe programer. Sorry for such a long post and Thanks for any help you can give me.

Edge Juice is not a programmer. Safe is relative. You need to know when to back out to prevent engine damage. If you don't want to mod the tranny, just get a programmer with 120whp extra. That's about all the HP you can run safely.

I can't speak for guys with 600 model but the Edge juice w/ Attitude works very well in my 03. It does have defeuling saftey measures so that you don't trash you motor or your tranny. However, I have heard alot of good things about TST.

I have a Quadzilla race box on my truck and have been very happy with the product and the service from Quad. I have regular gauges on my truck so I went with something without the monitor. Quad is working on a monitor for his box so maybe you could check with him on a time frame before making a decision. Good luck!

I have had experience with a lot of boxes and the BD downloader. Most of the boxes and the downloader worked without major issues. It is kind of based on what you eventually want to do. If the intake and exhaust is all you want to do with performance module, then the standard Juice/Attutude would be a good choice. That said the TST box will provide EGT and Boost protection and monitoring. Restraint with the TST box on what settings is all you need to be safe. You have more adjustability and options with the TST box than any other box or downloader. Just my .02.

Thanks. I just got back from the local truck store and got the try before you buy bully dog put on. It is on the lowest setting and ive only driven straight home a few miles so i dont know what to think yet. Seems to have more power though just on the low setting and it shifts just as good if not better than stock. One question though, it hardly puts out any black smoke, is this just because of the low setting or will the bully dog just not smoke much? I was really looking foward to seeing some of that smoke come out .

I have the Edge Juice box, muffler, and a tighter than stock stall torque converter. I run the box on setting 3 (of 5- 40 hp & 100 ft lbs.) and I really like it. On this setting it doesn't smoke after it warms above 174 degrees. Below 144 degrees it's stock tuning, 144-174 degrees adds 1/4 of the warm setting.
