Check engine light

My check engine light came on but I have no trouble codes. What can cause the light to come on without a code. I checked the obvious things like fluid levels. Any ideas what I should check before going to the dealer?

sometimes a very short disturbance can cause it to come on, but if you drive around the problem could fix itself but the light can stay on for a while after. if you have no codes, reset the DTC light and see if it comes back on. If it does then maybe its time to check it out with the dealer, even tho you know there are going to tell you its something expensive!!

I did the Key cycle to read codes and came up with two. 0633 which is no problem, but the second is 1740 which indicates a problem with the trans overdrive. I talked to the trans shop that just installed the new trans and was told that ATS is working on the problem that occurs only with California trucks. They say the trans is more efficient than the ECM thinks it should be so it flags it as a problem. No driving issues, no limp mode so I guess it is not a problem.

Just put a piece of eletrical tape over it J/K. Mine came on about a week ago with no thrown codes. Come to find out that the fuel cap was not tight. Could be something very simple

Cycle the key off-on 3 times the odometer will display codes. I find it odd that the Bully Dog Monitor does not see the code but it appears on this test.

Most Downloaders will clear your codes. I'm not sure about your Bully Dog but my Predator does and so does the Smarty. Try looking in your manual for the BD....

DTT sells a voltage regulator that fools your pcm which in turn helps keep you from getting codes when you install an aftermarket trans or valvebody.
