I don't think I'd get that one. It's probably not very powerful, especially when you're getting stepped on by truckers with "big" radios. I have a Cobra Classic 25 LTD (I think that's the one). It's about 8-10 inches wide and about 12 inches long. It has the mic jack coming out the side, from what I've been told by truckers, those are the ones you want. I guess if the mic jack comes out the front, they're not quite as powerful. I have my CB sitting under my middle fold up console, you can't see it unless you bend down to look ontop of the middle seat, and under the center console. I also have an external speaker which helps with better sound quality. Just my .02

I thought the Cobra 75 had a "box" that mounts behind the dash somewhere, so that the only thing you see is the handheld mic that has the controls on it...there are a lot of people on here with it, hopefully one chimes in about its signal strength....

I have a buddy that has that Cobra hand held radio in his '05 and it works pretty good we can talk on the CB's from across town. He put the reciever box under his shifter console and drilled a hole in the side of the console for the mic plug.

I agree with t-boe. I have the same radio. Used it when I drove Big Trucks. I have it mounted about the same way.

I Have a picture in "Installing a CB radio in 3rd gen". It won't let met transfer it over to this thread.

I have the Cobra 75 and I primarily use it for when I am caravaning with others, so extreme range isn't important. I just keep it all in my lower seat console. Oh and and I added a 12v cigarette plug to the power wires.

I have a galaxy DX88 and a uniden PC78 both are good I like the sideband and range from the galaxy 40 watt unit.My uniden is tweaked to 20 watts.I also have a President with a heater but that is home use.I would probably go with cobra/uniden with meter for affordable unit might even add a frequency counter for delta tune.If you can afford it the galaxy wins hands down its sideband/Ham capacity make it a great radio.by the way the uniden costs about a third of galaxy with alot of features most will never use galaxy makes some smaller radios that are extremely capable.Bill

I have a realistic in my truck right now that talks out decent but nothing special, but it is allright for what i paid for it. I had Galaxy 959 in my old truck that i loved. It was a great radio. It was tuned to about 45 watts and talked real good. Had upper and lower sideband roger beep and all kinds of cool stuff. Sadly it was lost when my old truck cought on fire.

Personally, I don't think you could go wrong with the above mentioned Cobra Classic 25. I myself like using the Classic 29. Yeah it's a tad larger, but both the 25 and the 29 can be "boosted" to get more reach out power. And I just love the emergency side band. But it's size looks good when mounted in front of the center seat using Geno's mount. Mine has actually been around for a few years now in two different pickups, 1 Peterbuilt and 2 Freightliners. It's taken a few lickin's and keeps tickin'!!!!!!!!

I would go with a Export 10 meter radio and have in converted to the cb frequency. These are what alot of the truckers use, I have a Connex 3300hp and a General Lee, both are the same radio, just different names. They both work well and have great audio. I run a 600 watt kicker behind my General lee and i am able to get out and talk and not get stepped on by the truckers. If you visit some of the Cb shops online you can check out these radios, my personal Favorite is Radio Active Radios. Though for 80 bucks you cant beat a peaked and tweaked Cobra Classic 29LTD. Just depens what you want to use it for, alot of talking or just listening.

I have the 75, all-in-the-mic model. It has a separate little box that I mounted under my console, I drilled a hole for the mic connector. It puts out legal power. I also have an old solid state palomar 100w linear, the 75 drives it just fine. The little box has a plug-in for an external speaker if you need one. I have been very pleased with the radio, it def does the job it should, it's compactness is nice too. I like being able to look at the mic for channel information, etc instead of having to really take my eyes off the road. I also like the weather alert function, great when traveling in the tornado belt.

I have a roof mount Wilson 1000 antenna, great antenna, gets the job done too.
