Catalytic Converter Removal????

Been thinking about removing the Catalytic Converter on my 04.5. Talked to a local muffler shop the guy there said he thinks he can get me a replacement pipe.
Can you remove the Cat from the exhaust on the 04.5 HO and the truck still run good or better.
Or does the engine monitor back pressure which is caused by the Cat?
Can anybody pass on any Pro's & Con's on removing the Cat?

Rip that SOB off there!

They are not like the cats on cars...

Your truck will thank you for it!

It isn't worth the trouble if your truck isn't making over 400 hp. It'll run just fine with a differant exhaust tone. The easiest way is to take a sawzall to the pipes going to the cat and band clamp a piece of 4" pipe in it's place.

No measureable differences of importance.

I had mine back in for a while....didn't like the sound, also ran differently. Not really a big difference, but I didn't like it so, it's back off.

If you start dumping fuel into your engine, cat removal is required. Otherwise it'll plug off from soot and become a heat trap.
