Can I put 33X12.50R17LT size tires on a stock rim?
My passenger front tire's sidewall is peeling so I am need of new tires. Does anyone know if 33X12.50R17LT will fit on our stock rims? The Cooper tires I'm looking at don't come in 285/R17.
Thanks for any help.

They will fit , but you may have some issues with tread wear ..... cupping and such .......... down the road . A 12.5 tire works better and looks a lot bigger on say a 10 " rim . And you get to put all the rubber you paid for on the ground.

I am running 35x12.50x17 BFG Muds on my stock wheels with no sign of cupping or uneven wear. Have had them on for about 30,000 miles and love them. You can mount the 33x12.50's on the stock wheels. Make sure you maintain them just as you would any other tire...check air pressure and rotate regularly.

Fellow Hokie Alltimelow1 and ricky3 do you all have alloy wheels or the steel/chrome wheels. I've got the steel/chrome ones and thought I read they were narrower then the alloys.

I just purchased a set of Toyo 285/70/R17/D Open Country A/Ts. Been on back order for many months. So far I like 'em a lot. Although they are 8 ply D rated tires, they seem to have characteristics of E rated tires in how firm they are and how little they squat. I don't know how they will wear as they are very new. These are nice tires at a good price. They look great on the 17s. You might want to check them out.

I just put 285/70/17 BFG ATs on my truck. I wanted 295 Nittos but they were back ordered for 6-8 weeks. They fit great on the stock rims with no rubbing on or offroad. They are 32.8 inches tall x 11.5 inches wide and have a weight rating of 3195lbs@65psi. The sand performance is incredibly better than the stock tires. I could go anywhere I wanted in the soft sand in the dunes of Carova Beach, NC. The beaches there are hard compacted sand but the trails leading over the dunes towards Currituck Sound have some areas where the sand looks like sugar.

I have got the steel chrome ones and I think they are 17x8 - anyway they are within specs for a 12.5 tire and you WILL be able to put all the tire you paid for on the road, as I said, about 49,000 miles and no unusual wear or cupping - also, they look sweet

Yes they will.......I run the LT33x12.50R17 Mastercraft Courser C/T's on my '03 and have been extremely happy with them so far (around 6,000 miles or so).

I am looking at a set of BFG Wrangler AT/S in a 33x12.5 on a 16x10" rim. My only concern is the tire, from what i can gather from tirerack.com, is a C load rated tire good for only 2200lbs. I have seen many on this forum talk about running this size of tire. Should I be concerned about the load rating? My 265/75/16E's are rated at 3400lbs a piece right now. How is everyone getting away with a tire rated at only 2200lbs if they are putting any weight in it?
