Question Can 04.5 Elbow fit 04?

Well I have a Early 04 CA edition 235 and want to do my exhaust.Though I want a true 5" exhaust and need a 04.5 Exhaust Elbow. Was wondering if a 04.5 exhaust elbow would mount straight to the factory turbo?Or will I have to do something else? Will the output of the TURBO fit the INPUT of the ELBOW?or am I gonna have to go another route or what?Need help ASAP guys

The 04.5 will bolt right up to the 2003 and 2004 turbo. You will also need a new clamp and will need to remove the indexing pins.

The 04.5 turbo will also bolt up. However, the 04.5 has an electronic wastegate and the 03,04 has a "manual" wastegate.

not to hijack here, but does the 03-04.5 elbow neck down to 3.5", and then run a 3.5" downpipe? or is the necking down from 4" to 3.5" done in the downpipe? what i'm cornfused on is that i have been looking at 4" turbo back exhausts that include the downpipe, so they must mate to that elbow. are their downpipes 3.5" diameter at the elbow end and flare to 4" in the downpipe? also, what the hell is a cat back for an 03-04.5? there is no cat

The clamp that connects the downpipe to the elbow. The old one will be too small.

The pins are in the elbow itself. There are two of them, They're small (like 1mm in diameter) on the end that connects to the turbo. They will pull right out, or you can grind them down flat if they're stuck. Look at the elbow, it's pretty apparent.

In stock configuration, yes. The necking down is in the elbow itself, and the stock downpipe is 3.5" in diameter. The MBRP dowpipe I have is 4" in diameter, with a short 1" taper down to 3.5" right where it connects to the turbo. You can kind of see it here, in the upper right hand part of the picture:

You need to pull the index pins out or the elbow will not be aimed in the right direction. Just leave everything kind of loose and get it aligned then snug it all up. I believe the new clamp you need is part #52121285aa. The clamp at the elbow /turbo is the same. You need the new downpipe/turbo clamp because it is now 4 inch not 3.5.

so if i were to put on the 04.5 elbow, i would need to order an exhaust for an 04.5 truck, as an 03 one would not mate the elbow. all 04.5 have cats on don't they?

The part number for the 2004.5 and up downpipe is 52121600aa. The 2004.5 has a cat but you can order a cat delete from someone like MBRP.
