Bypass Oil Filter Questions
I read the Cummins/Fleetguard tutorial and it was interesting for sure. They did mention that it's not recommended for the B-series motors due to limited oil pump capacity. They mentioned that they are developing a system for lower flow rates (1gpm). The system they discussed required a flow rate of 2gpm and 50-75psi pressure to work most efficiently.
The other issue would be punching a 1-1.25" hole in the pan above the sump line.
They mentioned that a system installed on a test motor was able to capture 350 grams of soot/contaminants (about 3/4 lb) in 400hrs.
Personally, I think it makes sense and I think it would work well if they end up making a system for the B-series motors..

If you go down to page 5 it says all the specs for it. 3/4in drain hose, 44-87psi oil pressure, 1gpm@50psi
Every type of filter has its pros-cons but if you ever pulled one of these things apart to clean them, they really work. I like the Fleetguard unit over the Spinner II because of the cone-stac type element. I need to get under the truck and see how big the drain/freeze plug is and if it will flow enough.
i did not see a exaust brake on your signature as long as it is not a jake or banks the space where the vacuum pump sets looks like it will fit . i have some 1st and 2ond generation trucks with home made spin on filters that i mounted high on the passenger side of the headache rack it's easy to service and would give you the return fall you need
the amsoil filter was redesighned to filter out the soot there filter is made by champ and it works nearly as good as the frantz
, the soot problem is so new that most by pass filters will not work on removing it . the fleet guard will , it is just hard to mount. i have a fs2500 on one of our tractors it does not filter the soot that well, for three of my 06, im going to mod and install the luberfiner 9750. on my 06 that i pull my 5th wheel i have and old 750 luberfiner in it i will series with the new 9750, the stainless steel 750 looks to cool to pull it out

When I called Fleetguard, they recommended the CH41102. It is suitable for the B series engine. The info you read was for a larger unit (2gpm) and the 41102 is 1gpm and designed for lower oil pressure.

The only issue I see now, is that it looks like it can't be mounted on the motor. Vibration would be an issue there. Do you know what the cost of this unit is as well as the cost of the service rotors? How would you punch the hole in the pan? it can't be removed without lifting the motor right?
I am interested in a bypass system, but my primary goal would be extended oil drain intervals and cost effectiveness. After reading up on this and the Amsoil bypass, I think they will both filter soot effectively, so service cost would be the next issue.
The CH41102 looks to be a quality product, especially since it's made by fleetguard. They have a rock solid reputation so I would not have a problem running ths system.
