Bundey exhaust break
Bundey exhaust break
I would like to put a exhaust break on my truck.
I found the Bundey exhaust break online and am considering it. I can't really find any reviews on it. I am attracted to the simplicity of it and easy install. Does anyone know anything about it or have a opinion on it?

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Presume that you mean an exhaust brake, not a break.
Never heard of this system. Sounds OK, but to me, it will stress the entire exhaust system and quickly blow out any weak or rusted areas. This brake will break any weak areas.
What do you have against something like a BD exhaust brake?

Yes, I do mean brake. I don't have anything against the others, I don't no much about exhaust brakes. The Bundy just seems simple and easy install. Why would the Bundy be harder on the exhaust than any other?

Not saying that the Bundy brake will not work just fine and looks easy to install, but in my opinion it pressurizes the entire exhaust system and therefore has the potential to blow out any weak (rusted) areas. Other systems such as BD only pressurize a small part of the exhaust system and the parts that are pressurized are very strong. One advantage I see that the electric Bundy brake has over the others is that compressed air is not required. If you already have on-board air, then that advantage is moot.
Others hopefully will chime in with other thoughts and opinions..

No real update. I plan on calling Bundy to ask some questions. As far as pressurizing the exhaust, they recommend putting it as close as possible to the engine to minimize the exhaust connections. One question I have is I don't think the exhaust break will turn off when you accelerate. It sounds like that can be bad for the engine to accelerate while the break is on? Is a small amount of throttle safe while the brake is engaged?
Update.
I did finally buy a Bundy exhaust brake. So far the install has been problematic. The band clamps that they supply to clamp it to the down pipe wouldn't come close to sealing the exhaust. The I tried clamps and t it worked better, but still not sealed. I had a friend take the down pipe off the truck and weld the exhaust brake connection to the down pipe.and reinstall. He said that there was a broken piece of metal on the turbo elbow. He tried to fix it by welding it and put it bake together. Now the elbow is leaking and I am shopping for a new one. This truck is a 03 with a 3.5" outlet on the elbow. I am having trouble finding one. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get one? Is there a recommendation on which brand? And should I get new clamps for the inlet and outlet?
