Bully Dog Downloader Question.
I got a Question, is the Bully Dog Downloader traceable. Example if I was to install it on my truck and by chance it kills the torque converter and I uninstalled it and set the truck back to the stock settings can the dealer detect it?
Thanks,
Travis

The million dollar question. I think it is assumed that the dealer can see if he wants when the last "flash" of the computer was. If that date is "strange", he could ifer what he wants. I would make sure your dealer is "hip and down" before trying this.
I personally would just set the truck up right in order to prevent this.

Rumor is they can see the timestamp from when the computer code was modified. Don't know if it's true or not, but that's what I've heard.
I don't think we need yet another discussion on the ethics of taking your truck back to the dealer for warranty work directly caused by power upgrades, though...

I dont think he asked anything of ethics, I think this is a good question on just how much of the "crap we all hear" the service depts. can detect? I doubt if half of them, if able to detect mods, even know they have the capabilities. The reason I say this is because of 3 dealers in the Austin area, none of them knew how to program my new tire size @ 601 revs. Why shouldn't we hide our mods and worry about voiding our warranty when these service depts seem to pic and choose what they know about. "Well we might be able to fix it, but we do know your warranty is trashed."

You can use the BDDL on Performance if you pull out of it b-4 you go from 3rd to OD. Your tranny will hold up ok. I know it's not ideal, but it will toast your OD clutches if you don't. Until you get your ATS upgrades, or whoevers,.... this will allow you to play.

I ment set up right as in air and drivetrain mods to safely handle that kind of power increase. I wore out various OEM componets in 20k trying to do the same thing. 75 more hp or so is safe. Anymore (depending on how you drive of course) is just a ticking time bomb IMHO.

I think the key is to have a performance friendly dealer who won't freak out and blame any problems that may arise on any aftermarket equipment you may have on the truck.
