Bug screen
I gave up tryin to find a bug screeen for the front.
So I built it myself.
31 1/2" wide by 20" tall. Covers full width and about 85% height
Went to Lowes and got everything to make a normal screen
window and used existing mounts bolts with nylon spacers.
I have learned alot from everyone here and thought I would share what little I could

Thanks for the info on the bug screen. Thinking about doing me one. Have you had a chance to pull a load in hot weather with the
bug screen installed? Just wondering if the screen would reduce the cooling efficiently any?

Sorry I am mostly empty.
By the volume of "critters" I have brushed off in 3 weeks I think the various radiators not having bugs crammed in them will off set the screen.
I hope that makes sense

1/2 " spacers for the bottom
1" for the top
1" bolts for the bottom
and 2" for the top. Cut about 1/4" off the 2" bolts. they are almost too long
Used aluminum wire. Thought it might hold up to rocks better.

I use fibreglass screen, and velcro to hang it from the top frame with it resting against the coolers. Stays cool this way (without a buffer zone between screen and coolers) and is easy to pull out and wash off. Cheap and lazy but it works for me.

Here's a quickie, cheap way to install a screen. (I wish I would have bought black screen.) Just place the screen under the hose that crosses the radiator and press the hose back into the clips.

Have a look at the Cabella's web site - I have their combination bug screen and winter front...easy to install, looks good, and not expensive. About $40 bucks for the combo (half that for only the bug screen).
Here's the path
www.cabellas.com > Automotive / ATV > Automotive Exterior > Hood Shields / Body Styling > Summer/Winter Grille Covers and Screen Fronts
Not bad for a fishin' store, eh?

I like the set - The snaps were easy to install (they were a "snap" to install ?) and I used two or three of the existing grill screws from the wind deflector I have topside and used adhesive snaps on the lower side. Trick is not to stretch the mesh too much when lining up the screen. Looks good - takes away that front end shine of the standard grill and does a good job catching bugs. About 15mins to install. Doesn't cover the air inlet below the bumper, but my winch takes care of that (advantage goes to the home made version here if you don't have other front end hardware)
The winter front mates up perfectly and washes up easily at end of season.
I've run summer and winter now and I'd buy again from these guys.
No pics yet...hoping to get the dig. camera soon.
Steve
ps. Sorry for the typo, guys.
