Break In Before Mods?
I am ordering some performance Mods this week for my 05' and I guy I work with who is a self proclaimed Diesel expert(power puke owner) said that a Diesel truck has a certain break-in period before you should add a electronic box or programmer. Is this BS or is there some weight to this? He explained that there is a time for your piston rings to break in. Any help or advice is appriciated.

the drive home from the dealer should more than cover it, sure the motor has a break in period untill you see a peak in fuel milage, but most feal these motors are ready when they leave the factory for most bombing. if I am wrong I am sure somone will jump down my neck and say so.

I would drive it long enough to know how it feels stock, then I would mod it.
Once you mod it you will wonder why you waited as long as you did whether it was 10 miles or 10,000 miles.

A couple thousand miles of hard driving is good, not for brake in, but just to make shure you got a good truck to start with, there is a lemmon that sneaks thru now and then.

Having said that, I waited 10,000 miles to mod. Got over 30,000 miles now, so far only repair has been a set of rear brake pads (inboard ones got think, lots of dusty roads, so I got sheilds now, but the stock pads were done).
Enjoy.

Thank for the input, I think I'll go ahead and let r' rip!! There are two power puke owners on my ship that have mods and a buddy of mine said he overheard them "worrying" about what they would have to do to keep up with mine! Hopefully I can spank'em!
