Bought Edge! No big difference!

A buddy of mine bought an Edge with attitude, and he says it added a little power, but not a whole lot! EGT's go to 1300 but not very easy!

Bought it for $400 used, and said it has less power then the banks (with PDA) he had in before.

what is it? or is something wrong with it??
Is it only an EZ edge? does EZ have attitude? The truck doesnt smoke as much as anoter truck just like his, which has an 120 Hp edge!

thanks a lot!!!

He is new to aftermarket power mods, And I personally would NOT have bought that one! cuz i heard about that same box, not being good.

Sorry, i never installed a edge in a 3rd gen. only on my 98.5.
but, do the 3rd gens pierce the pump wire too?

I felt bad, telling him its not good that he bought the used one! but he got bashed by a powerstroke the day before, and was very disapointed, so he bought this used, worthless stuff!

No pump wire to pierce on a 3rd gen. What does the box look like? What year is his truck? If he paid $400.00 for a used EZ I'd say he got taken but maybe it's for the wrong year truck. He should feel a big difference when it's turned on unless it's set at stock or on one of the lower settings....

If he got the Attitude too then I'd would have to say that it was a good deal as long as the box is a Juice box and not an EZ. There should be some kind of sticker on it telling you what it is...

He should definately see a huge difference with the Juice turned on. Mine pulls pretty darn hard on lvl 4 and 5, even when I had a standard box. The HOT box is just that much harder pulling. And mine smokes a pretty good amount. I'd make sure he got the box for the right truck. The early 04 and the 04.5 are different. Oh, and I bought a used box in the past and had no problems with Edge and customer service.... they replaced my box with a new one no questions asked.

If he has the attitude monitor on it then it is a juice unit. Mine pulls like there is no tomorrow. It might be defueling for transmission slip. Tell him to switch the display to include the trans slip %. You actually have to pull your foot most of the way off the go peddle to make the TC lock up and that only after you are going 50mph (80km). I have a 250 with a cold air kit and I can't get my EGT past 1200 1250 with the stock exhaust, even with the defuel for trans slip set to off, and that's pulling my 5th wheel. I upgraded my TC, (see sig) but I still see 1-2% slip even with the truck empty every hill. When I was pulling my trailer with the Defuel for trans slip in the yes mode, it would defuel all the way to stock levels on the hills. My EGT's would drop and run around 900 F. Did he put in the boost elbow on the turbo? His boost should be up over 30 psi. If it isn't going past 20 then the stock elbow is still in there. I see over 30 on most hills when I'm towing or hot *******. More air will drop the EGT's and increase cylinder pressure and give him more power.

Depends on the year of the truck concerning the boost elbow, i know 05's have electronically controlled wastegates.

But i agree, check defuel settings. mine would defuel completely at half throttle because the boost defuel level was too low.

he just says he doesnt know a **** what that all is, i might borrow his truck and find out!

I highly doubt he has installed a boost elbow! dont think there was one included! im not completly sure about his year truck, its 03 or 04! how do you tell what engine it is? the engine was installed?
and how do you tell for what the box is?

ill try to look at the box, next time ill see him!

is there posibility to change the box without having the receipt?

thanks a lot!
ill check everything out written above.

Make sure that he does this. it effects smoke and power.

Hit Menu
Go To Juice Configuration
Go To Low Boost Fueling Adjustment
Go To Whatever Power Level You Want To Adjust (5)
Make Sure "Most Responsive" or The 5th One is Selected

it will produce more smoke and be much different than without this adjusted.

I had the same exact problem last week. The only difference was, it didnt make ANY extra power than stock at all on any levels, so I called EDGE and they said they will replace it under warranty. I should be getting it sometime later this week and ill let you know the outcome.
