Boost location

On the 05s and 06's is this where the boost bolt goes? The small line with the wire wrap-guard on it coming from the brass fitting.

Also, do you guys run a hot lead through the opening in the firewall up to the fuse block for power on for the gauges?

Mine is in a middle manifold bolt, but I would think any will do ok. Most seem to tap into the wiring going to the Light control module or some place under the dash. The lighting can be tapped to a light dimmer wire and have dimming control with all the other lights.

Yes, that is where I put my boost bolt/line. I ran the power wires for the pyro directly to the Batt and the lights to the dimmer switch. Some folks ran the hot wire to the cigarette lighter for power (keeping it in the cab). I may change mine when I get motivated but so far so good.

Thanks guys, got the gauges coming in probably early next week. Lots of wires under the dash there. Looking forward to doing the install.....not so much drilling for that pyro though.

who recommends the boost bolt vs the drilling the intake horn?? That and where to tap for tranny (pan or hot line from massdiesel) is what my dilema is before purchasing gauges...

From what I have seen there isn't much difference. Just what you feel comfortable with doing or easiness.

That's what I did. The boost bolt looked much easier so I got one.

Hey, it looks like that picture was boosted from my gallery.. :-)

I just installed my gauges last weekend and uploaded my pics last night. I had trouble getting a socket to fit over the intake manifold bolts farther back because of the fuel lines. I chose to put the boost bolt in the front because it was easy (after I tried all of the others!).

This was my first mod, along with pyro and tranny temp. All went well. Whew!

OK, here's my own pic....it looks like we just pull that front corner mounting bolt, is that right? Usually mounting bolts are just dead end.

That's all I did. The bolt isn't dead, it apparently goes through to the intake. My works fine. I used the ISSPRO 60 PSI boost gauge. It reads around 5-9 pounds cruising around w/no load. About 15-20 climbing hills and peaks around 34 when I stop on it.

P.S. Nice picture, cleaner than mine. I've got 2300 miles on it...

That's where I'm going to mount that bad boy. Front RH (as you're driving) mounting bolt. I gotta call Dieselmanor tomorrow and order one of those boost-adapter-chingas. Thanks for the help Blackjeep and all!

ps approx 900 miles on 'er now.

I am taking a guess on this, i have wondered the same thing, i have compared my truck to my 03 and a buddys 04. What i think is its the lift pump. in 05 they put them in the tanks so that makes sense that its there on the 03 and 04 but not on my 05 or your 06... someone will know but i think im pretty sure thats what it is..
