Boost Fooling??
What do the box manufacturers mean by boost fooling?
Does it change the map sensor input to the computer and actually increase boost pressure, modify when the wastegate operates, or does it fool the computer into thinking the boost is higher than actual and make the computer add more fuel?
Thanks in advance.
Eric

When you're getting more boost than the ecm allows the ecm will defuel, so a boost fooler allows you to run more than stock levels of boost without throwing a code nor defueling.
I think you are looking at this the wrong way.. If you tell the computer you are getting more boost than you actually are you will in the long run loose boost pressure..
Boost fooling is telling the computer you have less boost than you actually do so that the computer will give more fuel and let the turbo push more pressure also. Fooling is the only way that "boxes or modules" adjust boost pressure. Only programmers change the parameters in the computer to "allow" more boost.

my understanding is it tells the computer there is less boost than there is becasue the factory computer is going to cut the boost off at a set point.
this wil alow boost levels to go higher.
the down side is a box that made more boost than certain parts of the sytem would handle or not handle forever.
then again I am no expert on the subject. newbie to diesels. one step above posting "why is my truck dieseling" ha ha
