BOMBED... Literally
Well guys my truck rolled over to 106000 exact as i put her in park running on something like 4-5 cylinders at my buddies shop this morning. It wasnt knocking or rattleing but man was she idling ruffff. I have to say for an engine with over 100k and at least 1 burnt piston i am impressed how strong it still ran. I will have the full synopsis in the a.m. I was just about to trade her on a 06 mega too
. I sure saved someone else a lot of headache. I am having a full lower end rebuild with a valve job and whatever else we come across will be fixed. And i just finished removing ALL mods minus tranny on saturday for the trade-in
. I guess i ticked her off by taking away all of the power so she died on me
. Just thought i could brighten someone elses "bad" day

Well that is my question too..... I am so mad right now i just dont know what to do. I was so excited to be getting the new one (demo 4k miles). I found a 06 4x4 mega that i could have gotten for 30k and change out the door that is fully loaded with leather and navigation etc. So feel my pain
. I really like my truck but i dont think i will reinstall all the pumps and boxes. I will leave the intake/exhaust but will probably just leave it stock other than that,
. My friend (the mechanic) is willing to do alot of equity trading for the parts/labor on my cp3's and turbo. If i think about it too long i wont trade so........ I have a baby due in november and the mega woulda been awesome but savings is more of a priority than comfort at this point. Plus i will be the only income for at least 6mos and this is my first child so i am totally freaked about being financially prepared, even though i know i am its still a concern. So with that being said, it will really depend on the repair amount.......

I agree - no need to increase your debt load just prior to a season of reduced income and vast new demands on your time - parenting is every bit as challenging as it is rewarding!
Besides, you can always re-BOMB it as required....

Here's my two cents. Dont worry about being financially prepared. It'll never happen when it comes to kids. Just enjoy the baby while he/she cant talk or walk
. Soon he/she will be destroying every thing. Sorry about the pickup. Your not missing much with the mega. I've got one and am now looking for an older pickup.

I wouldnt be suprised if you dont have any problems at all... I have had problems with my truck like that before.... especially after changing alot of parts. I would take all the battery cables off,,,, after they are disconected touch the positive and negative together,,, or wait an hour,,, this will discharge the ecm..... rehook everything up,, restart truck,,, it has fixed a few trucks that I know of... lets hope anyways

I agree with 95 My grandad told me if you wait to have kids until you have enough money youll never have them. When I look back the times when my wife and I were dead broke they are the times we were the closest. I guess having to decide together which bills not to pay this month will do that. Those times sucked but I wouldnt trade them for the world now. Dont be worried I found out a long time ago they cant eat you and worrying wont make it any better.
Sorry about your truck man. CONGRATULATIONS on the new addition kids are the greatest blessings we ever recieve.

. I stopped by at around 4pm and they were just hoisting it outta the truck so it will be tomorrow before i know just how hard to cry.
Be sure and let us know what you find out. Dont feel like the lone ranger sometimes its one step forward and two back. You better enjoy it ,that little one will be walking then they'll all be forward running after em.
Ok, he just called me. It is a cracked ring. He said the pistons all looked good as new. The block is allready being honed and i new sleeve. Full valve job being done. Polishing the crank. Injectors tested perfectly. New bearings, seals, gaskets, the ever so much needed fire rings going back (just in case), etc. He has built quite a few extremely high hp diesels including this one (which lasted 70k megabombed) so if he says the pistons are good i will trust him but only once.... I should be rolling again by next tuesday/wednesday. And am i ever ready. My grandma loaned me her extra car and i feel like i am a sitting duck. But, thank god for family.......
He said around $2500-3000. Which i think is fair considering he is cleaning up the head, machine work, tested the injectors, crank work (re-high polish including pickups), etc. What do you think?
