Black "Sport" Grill

Does anybody have a link on where to buy a Black Sport Grill for a 3rd gen. I have searched EBAY and can't find any. Plenty for a 2nd gen, but no 3rd. The dealer wants to much money.

ideas? thanks.

I have been looking as well. www.dodgeparts.com has them, but they are close to $400. Not sure I want to go that much for the look.

If you find sometheing else let me, us know.

I am wanting to replace the chrome grill with a black one (like on the color matched "sport" package with grill and bumpers painted the color of the truck). I am removing most or all of the chrome from the truck. I definately DO NOT want the Billet Grill inserts. So far I haven't had any luck except at the dealer and they want way to much.

Don, as expensive as these things are, I may take you up on the spray can idea

Oh....and Don....Why do you think I moved? My neighbors were hurting my property values and I had to get out why I had a chance!

I went the spray can route myself, on the grille and all chrome pieces. See my gallery.
Howerver, the black paint is chipping on the grill from road dirt/debris.
When I painted it, I used sand paper on the chrome inserts but the paint didn't stick well enough to sustain the 'sand blasting' from the road. If I was to do it again I'd sand the chrome off all together.
I'll have to spray it again in the spring, or maybe just touch it up with a sharpie.

I may have to serious consider that, unfortunately. My Ranch Hand Front end will prob keep most of the road debris from hitting it though. I just never thought it would be so difficult or expensive to replace that chrome grill with black.

So has anybody on here replaced their chrome grill with a Black Sport Grill? Anybody have any other ideas besides the dealership? I have been unable to find any for a 3rd gen on Ebay. Plenty for 2nd gens though. Thanks.

Keep looking on ebay.
One will pop up.

It took me about 3 or 4 months but I eventually bought all the parts to convert my Black SLT to a Black Sport (front and rear bumpers, and grille)
The Black SRT hood didnt hurt anything either..

I had to pay almost 200 bucks for a used black sport grille.

You can scuff/paint the plasti-chrome on the stock SLT grille surround. I did it on my 1994 dodge back in 1998 or so, and there is still no chipping/peeling. There is a rock ding or two, but it wont peel.

You just have to prep it right, and use the right primers. Epoxy primer or DuPont Variprime should stick well. Follow that with sealer/base/clear as usual, and it will last.

I just finished converting my white SLT to a sport. All is well.

I picked up the front/rear bumper assemblies from Ebay (there is a guy lexie12blue who sells bumpers from San Angelo,TX).

The grille I painted myself, as well as the bumpers (because they were black when I got them).

Before:

After:

Here's a grille on ebay. Buy it, sell the billet for $50, and use that $50 to paint it black:
Ebay Grille Surround

Here's another, black with buy it now. It's aftermarket, but aftermarket these days is usually close to OEM:
Black Ebay Grille

And a red one:
Red Grille

Another:
Black Grille

There is a ton of them, just have to look!

Hope this helps.
