I just did a milage check with the tow level pulling a light 1,600lb utility trailer 600 miles round trip on a tank with 2-3 gallons left. Hand calc was 19.5. I drove at 3-5 mph over the speed limit (some 58mph and some 68mph). Bucked a head wind at 68mph the last 200 miles. I did notice the extra power and did see smoke if I passed on a grade. I wouldn't call it bad....it also smoked stock. So far I like its smooth power. EGT pulling the grade were 1100 F at 58mph. Question: What is a safe continious use EGT. My probe is pre on the rear cyls or where diesel manor recomends.

The 06's are designed and built to run 1450* in stock form. Short periods of 1-2 minutes will not hurt it at all. I don't know about running 1450* for sustained many minutes at a time, I wouldn't but know guys who do without problems.

I feel the smoke is very controllable. I can drive around all day and if anyone was behind me they wouldn't know I had a programmer on it. When I say I can do this all day, its not like im having to think about it either. I just dont get on it at every stop and lug it. Now when I have had my girlfriend drive it she will make it smoke everyone once in a while without realizing why.

I run the Jr. on 70 hp. No stains on the trailer, bumper pull. Boost levels will hit 38-39psi. I just use the jr, no other addders, to it has to boost fool.
Where are people getting the info that the jr does not boost fool? It seems contagious. Maybe the confusion is between the Sr. and Jr.
I just looked on wagnerassociates web site and it does not state how the power is obtained. From what I have been reading is that it is set up as follows.
40hp is timing and boost fooling.
70hp is same timing and boost fooling as 40hp and some added duration.
100hp is same timing and more added duration with boost fooling.

I'm seriously considering this. I know the Smarty Jr. is an outstanding product and it works as advertised BUT the smoke is just insane. Mine smokes on all setting in all driving conditions except when coasting or when I'm just slightly on it on a flat road. Other than that, it's pretty impressive...
Maybe mine just smokes so much because my kitty ran away?

How much different is the programming for a 2004 305/555 motor compared to the 2004.5 & up motors? I would not mind some smoke on the 70hp and 100 hp settings, but heavy smoke when towing on the 40hp setting would be a little much. Isn't the 70hp setting going to be hard on a 48RE when towing heavy?

This is a concern of mine also. When speaking to Bob about it, he said it should be fine. He also said that I would probably get better mileage when towing on the 70 hp setting. FYI our trailer is about 17-18k loaded.

Smarty and towing
I am going to get a snarty sr. What kind of mileage increase did yall get on level 3 and is level 3 good with the egt's while towing heavy? Will the stock tranny do well on level 3 towing? It does great with the quad XZT on 65hp but im looking to get away from the pressure box.

maybe mines different. mines honestly doesnt smoke at all..........unless i want it to. normal driving you couldnt even tell. now if i stand on it and try to make it i will come out pretty good. i have an auto so lugging it really isnt in the equation or the tranny will just downshift
