Black smoke w/ Smarty jr?

I don't really want it bellowing out the pipe. I was accelerating in 4th and when it winds up to around 2300 RPMs, it's smoking pretty good. Is that normal w/ the Smarty jr? It's set of 40hp w/ no other mods. I'm thinking I might have accelerated from too low an RPM to get it going. Just try'n to see if all is well.

I would say it is normal. Mine smokes alot on 40 and 70 whenever I get on it. I haven't tried 100 yet.

Same here. I noticed that it smokes a lot more than stock when you are driving normal.

I have the smarty jr set on tow and man you can sure roll the coal. I have a handshaker so it is a little harder to control the blackouts. You should see it when my wife drives it. She is oblivious to what she is doing. She keeps asking me why she is getting all the looks. With the handshaker you need have a little finesse on the go peddle to not make it smoke .

I got the same results. It did it at 40 and 70. So did stock when it was nailed. Got my guages installed and the EGT seem to be what they claim. I won't know for sure till I do a long pull. I'm real happy so far!

Mine doesn't smoke much, just a puff when I goose it. It does have a bit of a haze while under normal acceleration.

Same here on 2 and 3. It clears up once the turbo builds pressure. At night, I can see a fair amount of haze in the headlights of the cars behind me.

On the lightest setting, just a tiny poof! Bob - what's the new beta? Does it just hold off on the fuel scheule until the turbo has time to wind up?

Just put the jr in my 03. In the 70hp setting there is never any smoke out my tailpipe, zero. It's not as responsive as I was hoping in the low end but does make great overall power and drives incredibly smooth. Maybe Marco can have a updated tune for the 05-07 crowd to lower smoke, and an upgrade for 03-early 04 to increase throttle response/give more smoke. I know it's a fine line between throttle response and smoke, but I bet there are other 03/04 owners who wouldn't mind a little more smoke??

after reading a fair share of the smarty jr threads, it seems to me that the 03-04's don't or smoke a small puff (depending on the setting) versus the '05 and newer engines having a bit more smoke........anybody agree/disagree?

Mine doesn't smoke very much at all. Only time I ever noticed it is when I nailed from a stop and there was just a little.

I have an 04.5 that will smoke pretty good on all of the smarty jr settings.
I like the power and response but not the smoke..

My 05 will smoke pretty good. I only run the econo setting though. I did try the 100 hp once. Can't tell ya how much more power it has compared to the econo because I was worried about the trans. I actually thought it smoked less on 100 than the 40 setting, but I may just be crazy.
