Black Chrome center caps

After reading another post I decided to paint the center caps to change from chrome to black chrome. Found Duplicolor makes a paint to simulate an anodized look called Metalcast. They have it in smoke color now. Following Duplicolors video from the website I first made sure that hte surface was cleaned and prepped. Next sprayed a couple of light coats of adhesion promoter. Once that was tacky I sprayed several coats of the smoke Metalcast until I got the color I wanted. Then about five or six coats of clear coat. It took a few hours to do. Three of them had to be wet sanded, and polished with rubbing compound. I think they turned out better than trying to use the Nightshades tint paint. Has more of the smokey tint that I have seen with black chrome. Let me know what you all think. I'm thinking of doing all the badges the same way, possibly the grill also. Frontier Truck Gear's replacement bumpers will replace the front and rear someday.

Nice job !!! Looks Great !!!

I really like the way the truck sets them off and vice-versa, excellent choice for a fine looking detail.

Nice looking truck. Just my personal opinion, I don't care for the H2 wheels, but the center caps do make them look decent on your truck.

Well I finally painted all the badges, grill and fuel door. So far the center caps are holding up well. Here's the pictures.

I agree it looks good, very unique. Both front and rear bumpers would definitely complete the look.

That might be in the near future until I get the replacement bumpers. Will have to get one of those new black stainless exhaust tips, too. The bumpers will take a while. Have to wait for a day with very little or no wind.
