I have an AF990 camper, used to live in Idaho. I have been running Quads Xzillaraider box since it first came out in 2004 . All I wanted was just enough added HP to keep the tranny in OD, and maybe help the fuel mileage abit. I just kept the box on the 60hp setting and it stays in overdrive except for the really long hills like whitebird. Plenty of power, and running the box I usually get 1-1.5mpg better with the camper on.
I recently upgraded to the Xzillaraider II box, but some technical issues got in the way, so I have not got a chance to try it out yet. Quad support is pretty good. He personally addressed some questions I had, and Jeremy, one of his tech support guys kept after my problem until we got it solved.
I did end up adding the commander to monitor engine parameters. If I started over today, I would probably go with quads adrenaline since its an all in one package. Good luck with what ever you end up with. Oh by the way, I installed the box with 12000 miles on the truck and have 55,000 on it now and have not touched the tranny except for fluid/filter changes every 20,000.

 

if i was going to be "playing" with the truck and using different settings for different jobs all the time, i would strongly suggest the smarty or smarty jr. but if it serves one job and that is all, i'm sure there is a more affordable solution. i would be looking at a programmer for what i need it for and the cost together. not just the cost alone or the programmer alone. once again just my .02
