This is a loaded question! People's opinions differ greatly here! Some prefer the AFE systems, some AEM, Some Scotty, Some like Volant, some like the oiled drop ins, some say they are bad, some like the new Amsoil drop in, some like the BHAF, others have problems getting the parts all together. I think that stock should be fine with the new cleanable Amsoil nanotechnology weave drop in element. IMHO Seeing how the stock element costs $20+ 'round here, for around $40 you can go 50,000 mi. on the Amsoil unit, you'll save $$$
Cheers
Mike

the AFE is a BUCKET of money from what i understand, the filter is as much as my K&N, and then tube is extra from the filter to the turbo.

with that said, it looks pretty sturdy, filters better, and is supposed to be quieter than the K&N.

i'd go with a drop in filter, maybe a scotty box if had to do it over again

see K&N in my gallery

I have ran the AFE-II and the Volant and a drop in K&N..

Drop in K&N aint worth in, i was just bored..

AFE-II i bought just cause the **** Volant was taken forever to come in, i ran it for about 2 months, the AFE is a good one yes.. You sure will hear your turbo.. Performance was good..

Volant, i am just a fan of Volant thats all.. Its a great peace and its fully enclosed, and it has a torque tube just as the AFE-II does, there was no difference in performance what so ever, and you can still hear the turbo..

Price wise.. I paid $300 for the Volant and i paid $440 for the AFE-II..

When i say i am a fan of Volant i am.. i run it on

06 H3
06 Wrangler
05 Dodge Diesel
05 Magnum
03 F-250
97 F-150

and when they make it for a TrailBlazer SS i will get it..

The S&B is very compareable to the Volant for under $200.00. It uses your bottom factory elbow. I combined the S&B with the Dryflow filter. You can get the S&B system from JEGS.

The AFE is not quieter than the K&N. Everyone on here will tell you not to buy the K&N. I didn't listen to this and bought one anyway. Well I'm gonna say "I told you so" for them. The K&N was not filtering out the dirt. It never got dirty. I took the filter off and there was dirt in the tube. I now have an AFE PG 7 Filter on a K&N cold air intake due to this. The AFE is great. There is no dirt in the tube and there's not any oil on the inside of the turbo. Compare spending an extra $100-$200 now to buying a new turbo or even worse a new engine. It's worth the extra money.

what about the Quad monster intake?? I have it and dont really know how it compares, but it seems to be working great after 50k. I noticed some power increase, but not really sure how much.

This is my first air system on any vehicle (other than bikes) Is the Quad a good one? I would reccomend it, but Im not really the one to ask. It has a pretty large filter, looks cool, installs super easy, but doesnt come with a torque tube. All in all I think Quad makes good products!

I have the S&B intake and so far really like it. I like the clear top so you can keep track of how dirty the filter gets. I would like to get a Dryflow cone filter for it but don't know what size to get that will fit the box.
