Hey all, just got of the phone and the 6 inch lift is on order, should be in on Friday, if not then next Monday. Either way, I need tire choices now. I know a lot of people say BFG all Terrains, but I have a friend who has them with a 6 inch lifted powerstroke and the 37's he has measured out at a 35" tire. I don't want to lose that much tire. Anyways, what would everyone recommend to close to a 37" measured tires, and a tire that will last me GOOD mileage. Thxs for the help everyone

toyo's all the way. i am going to wear out the procomps and go toyo's. heard a lot of stories with BFG and death wobble.

 

X2 on the toyos. I am waiting to finish wearing out my bfg rugged trails and then I will going with 6 new toyos. Oh the joy and extra expense of owning a dually.

 

bfg 's don't cause the death wobble. worn suspension parts do. i have the 6" bds kit. make sure you have enough back spaceing or your tires will rub with 37's.

 

i did not say that they caused it, just heard stories of death wobble and they had BFG's on. could be or could not be related but why take a chance?

 

Of the many stories I have heard about the death wobble, a large percentage of them have bfg's on them. Now whether that is a coincidence or not, we may not know. But like cbrahs said, why even take that chance?

 

you right i guess. debating tires is like debating bed liners every body has different likes-dislikes. my bfg's at have had the hell beat of them. and still going how ever the guys that i know that have had the death wobble problem, my truck included. it has always been 1 of two things 99% of the time it is the bushings in the trac bar, and twice it was the tie rods that were so badly worn that they were causing it. or they have put a leveling kit or suspension system that dose not drop the trac drop bracket enough. causing the bushings to wear because it is holding the axel off to one side.

wobble comes from the axle moving from side to side usually. the only way the axle moves side to side is worn bushings.

when the tie rods get really worn out and the axle stays centered, sometimes there is enough movement in the tierods to get a violent shake at higher speed after hitting a bump.

 

When I bought my 4Runner (stock) I bought the BFG AT and experienced the death wobble. It was really bad so I ended up selling those and getting Michelin threads. This was on a non lifted vehicle, go figure...........

As to the topic. I'm deciding whether to go with the Lorenz 2" or Superlift 6" kit. If I did get the 6" lift I would go with Goodyear MT/R 37's. I love those tires and in that size they are E rated

 

Another vote for the Toyo's. The 35s I have on have been a great tire. There has been alot of talk about the BFGs and death wobble. Take it for what its worth.

 

Toyos for sure! I have had both the ATs and the MTs and liked them both a lot but like the MTs better because of the tread and that aggressive kind of look it gives to the truck!

 

gator, like the others, i'm not trying to debate either...BUT i PERSONALLY know of 3 instances of bfg's causing death wobble. the tires were removed and the d/w was gone. that's not counting the ones that i've seen/heard about on the intraweb. now maybe the other tires (that removed d/w) were just masking the real problem???

 

oh, and btw, i love my toyos, so there's another vote for them.

 

I am running the Geolander AT-S and wish I could get more. They are on national backorder. I guess I will wait till I hit NC next month and get the 37/12.5/17 BFG or Toyo's.

 

Wow, thanks for all the input guys. Now I'm keeping stock rims. If I went with the 37" Toyo's that wouldn't be a problem right? No rubbing?

 

With the stock wheels, you will most likely touch the control arm. No problems with the fenders though.
